A working and productive farm surrounding a 4 star resort. Food is good, Rooms spacious and cool. A clean and well run resort, not far from San Jose. The vegi pizza is the best. Everything is grown on site for the restaurant. Sustainable practices are well documented.

I just got back from Finca Luna Nueva after a four night stay. I stayed in Casa Luna and it was comfortable with a ceiling fan and a floor fan so it never got stuffy. It is an amazing place and I would definitely come again as I had a fantastic time. The staff are all friendly and it is... More

If you are looking for luxury, this is not the place for you. But you'll be missing the experience of a lifetime! The staff at Finca Luna Nueva (New Moon Farm) is warm, friendly, knowledgable, and dedicated to preserving the natural beauty of Costa Rica. I just got back from one week there on a yoga retreat with a group... More

Luna Nueva is a unique find! The staff went above and beyond to accommodate us! We were a group of 22 on a yoga retreat and they treated us like royalty! The food every night was really delicious, prepared with ingredients from their farm and local farms. The last night we had amazing homemade pizza in the pizza oven outdoors!... More

Staff was terrific. Very helpful, knowledgable and friendly. Food just ok except for the pizza which was outrageous. Yoga trips here are very effective. Totally different environment...getting away from it all. Nearest town over 30 minutes away on mostly dirt roads. Tours and excursions were great. Great value overall.

We recently spent a few super relaxing and fun days at Finca Luna Nueva and can recommend it to anyone who is looking for excellent food and service as well as an accommodating staff in a beautiful rain forest. We will definitely be going back, and soon! Ishmael gave us a wonderful tour of the organic and bio-dynamic farm and... More

If you love good food, beautiful flowers, and a rain forest experience this is a great place. We saw three toed sloth, three difference sized toucans and a lot more on one hike on the farm. Plenty to do and see. The lodge is near Fortuna and the hot springs. Everyone is very helpful and friendly.

Luna Nueva is a pretty place, but missed the mark in so many ways that I would take a pass. This is essentially an eco lodge. The toilets don't work, the showers don't work because they have all kinds of gizmos to save water. Half of our group never had hot water. The staff told us to run the water... More

Being in the rainforest was just amazing! I loved the Sacred Seed and Farm tours. The plant life is very rich, as are the bugs, but that comes with the territory. The staff is awesome! Very helpful, kind, friendly. The kitchen staff always made excellent food. Have to say the Jack Fruit taquitos and Guanabana juice were the best. :D... More

When we first got to the lodge, right away we were told our rooms had been "upgraded" from casa luna to the family lodge. As it was just my brother and me, we didn't need or want this. We wanted the extra outdoors space of the casa luna. But it wasn't an option. The family lodge is located right next... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Finca Luna Nueva Lodge is a sustainable rainforest eco-lodge hotel, offering an intimate experience of primary rainforest together with a certified organic biodynamic farm. We began farming here in 1994, planting and harvesting organic ginger and turmeric, and promoting sustainable agriculture and conservation in the local community. In 2003 we decided to take our promotion of sustainable practices to the next level by building several beautiful eco-lodges using fallen timber from the farm. Since then we have added a 50 foot high observation tower, a solar heated Jacuzzi, an ozonated swimming pool, and a handicapped accessible rainforest trail. Now you can experience the Costa Rican rainforest, learn about our farm's sustainable practices and relax in our rustic yet luxurious accommodations. Walk through well-groomed rain forest trails on our guided farm tours and hikes, eat gourmet meals prepared from our fresh organic garden produce, and witness the majesty of the Arenal Volcano. For adventure activity enthusiasts, we are located only 35 minutes from La Fortuna, the adventure capital of Costa Rica, and home of world famous Arenal Volcano. La Fortuna is a must see destination for anyone seeking a thrill, and our experienced staff will be more than happy to schedule all of your activities and tours for you. ... more   less
