I was very dissatisfied with my recent stay at Hotel Mi Tierra. Upon arriving, I was told that they had no record of my reservation, even though I had actually spoken with someone at the hotel 10 days earlier regarding my room reservation. This was not a huge issue, as they still had rooms available, but did suggest a lack... More

When I find myself in the San Jose/Alajuela area again, I will be sure to book my stay at this hotel. I stayed here with my boyfriend two nights in early March 2009: the first was reserved a week in advance (you can make reservations through their website at http://www.hotelmitierra.net/). It was $40USD (they take USD) for a single room... More

We stayed at Mi Tierra for our first night in CR, then again four days later before making our way to a different part of the country. This is not the place to stay if you are looking for 'frills'. It's simple, but has everything we needed and wanted, for a very good price. The rooms are small, a bed,... More

Roberto and Yvonnia made us feel like we were part of the family. Any questions we had they went out of their way to answer for us. Mapped out a good route for us to take to Arenal, and gave us an example of what "Tico" hospitality is all about. A great way to leave the 'western culture' behind, and... More

We stayed at Hotel Mi Tierra the night before we flew back to USA. We had received many recommendations for this place, and it did not disappoint. The owners were so very very helpful and charming. They truly live the pura vida and are the most kind people we met on our entire trip. They offered us advice on where... More

Overall, Iliked Hotel Mi Tierra. It's a short taxi ride from the bus station. Also, you can walk to the city center from this place. The room was a bit small. My sister liked that it came with cable television. It was nice to watch some tv at night after being technological free for a while on our travels. We... More

Great atmosphere and very, very helpful staff. Roberto and Yvonnia are fabulous and run this small hotel really well. They are also artists, so they decorate with their own art, and other guests were invariably very friendly and interesting and one can easily strike up a conversation. Rooms are basic, no frills, but clean. Breakfast is authentic CR, home made.... More

On our arrival in Alajuela, my bf and I visited Hotel Alajuela and Hotel La Guaria and were not impressed. We found Hotel Mi Tierra (not in the Lonely Planet but should be) just one block past La Guaria. It was a nice clean and quiet hotel, with satellite cable (US channels), a pool, a nice big breakfast included, and... More

Hotel Mi Tierra is a great little owner ran hotel in the heart of Alajuela. It is very secure and convient to walking downtown. Our group consisted of 9 high school age girls and 3 adults who enjoyed our stay for 2 nights. Our flight into CR was delayed 1 1/2 hours and we were so delighted to find Roberto... More

While we usually stay in more high-end accommodations, we found Mi Tierra to be a great stopping point before and after our travels in Costa Rica. The location, near the town center, was convenient. The hotel is a comfortable, safe oasis in the city of Alajuela. Our teenagers happily spent the day there while the adults explored a nearby volcano.... More
