For a few years now I have been stopping at "Henry's" every time I fly in and out of costa rica. He is the kindest man, an artisan, and has many good stories to tell. Every bit of the beautiful carpentry and decoration was done by hand. If you are lucky enough to eat one of the Persian dinners you... More

Casa Antigua is just a few minutes away from San Jose airport and a quick walk from Alajuela's most popular venues (the casino in particular). For that reason its location is very convenient. The whole place is decorated with taste and creativity. The backyard is inviting and very relaxing, plus you can enjoy the company of a dog, a cat... More

I stayed here for 2 nights. The rooms were small, but comfortable and nicely decorated. The complimentary breakfast included tons of tasty fresh fruit. The backyard area was amazing - tons of cool hand crafted tables/chairs, parrots, a swimming pool etc. But what really made this place awesome was the owner, Henry. He was extremely friendly and very helpful. If... More

You will love this homey hotel and restaurant..Mr. Fard the owner is an old soul and man of life's journeys. We arrived San Jose for the first time and were looking for a place to land/eat, in our search we called the their number...and in matter of minutes we felt heavenly comfortable. My husband & I stayed here on our last night in Costa Rica. I looked at there website before I booked the room and I feel like they falsely represented the hotel. We planned to sit by the pool have a drink at the bar and eat at the restaurant. But none of that was possible because the pool was... More

The host/owner was very accommodating. He got us a room very quickly. We had everything we needed right when we asked for it. The courtyard area is beautiful! We were the only guests at the hotel that night as it was 2 days before Easter. We ate a lovely and delicious dinner at the hotel and had a wonderful long... More

It was the character in the picture that caught my eye, as well as the reasonable rates. After three nights of staying here, I can easily recommend this place as a landing or departing spot for those travelling to Costa Rica. Henry is among the best hosts and gave me a very warm welcome. As a hotelier of my own... More

The atmosphere and setting of this hotel is truly remarkable. The property is very conveniently located near the airport, the rooms are exceptionally clean and uniquely designed in a very special way. The proprietor of the property, Henry, is genuinely kind and customer service oriented and treats every guest like family. The hotel has an adjacent restaurant with an elegant... More

Amazing food, amazing atmosphere. We were staying at a hotel across the street and thought this place looked interesting. We walked over, and what a great find! Excellent personalized service, interesting artwork and woodwork. Persian theme was quite intriguing. So different and unique. Don't miss this. We'll be back for sure!

My husband and I arrived at San Jose airport late in the evening after missing a connecting flight due to weather. The tourist booth directed us to Casa Antigua who had only one room left. We really did feel like we got the proverbial 'last room in the Inn'. We are not seasoned travelers and were feeling weary and a... More
