The Inn is near the airport in an industrial neighborhood. Don't be apprehensive. Once you go through the gate, you enter a beautiful tropical setting. Lodging is in a colonial two story building. Every room has a balcony overlooking the pool. Dining is in another matching building. Free internet service, spotless rooms, big in-ground pool, acres of gardens, bubbling stream,... more

Do NOT be turned off by their very high security measures!! if you haven't even stayed here, you missed out! I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this beautiful and unqiue inn for any/every one who has a flight. there are alot of slummy, yucky, undesirable places and areas in around SJO and the city. but this was a tropical plantation type mansion... more

We have stayed there a couple of times - it's ideal for an overnight stay for San José airport. The rooms are a very good size, clean and decently furnished, the bar-restaurant provides a short but perfectly adequate menu. Beware of the map on the Internet site - you get to the hotel from the gyratory at the airport terminal. more

This place takes your breath away. It is absolutely gorgeous. I wish my husband could have made it because it is a perfect romantic getaway. It was a great place to begin and plan my tour of Costa Rica. There is free high speed internet and WiFi. This was very important feature for me. I wanted to keep in touch... more

My wife and I spent our first and last nights during our two-week Costa Rica trip at the Trapp Family Country Inn, just adjacent to Juan Santamaria Airport in Alajuela. I heartily recommend this hotel! This being our eighth trip to Costa Rica in the last eight years, we have been fairly aware of the rather limited choices in close... more

We stayed one night at the Trapp Family Country Inn, very near San José international airport, absolutely fell in love with the place. We were greeted at the airport by enthusiastic staff with a huge sign with our name on, and driven 5 minutes along pot holed little back alleys - it's not far, but they admit it's extremely difficult... more

Stayed 3 nights and enjoyed wonderful views of the outside from my balcony. Comfortably spacious room and clean bathroom. Dinner service was extremely professional, food was delicious and choice of patio and/or inside dining was full of romantic ambience. more

Trapp Familiy Country Inn is indeed an oasis. The only way to approach is through the city, which as anyone who has come in, is a bit rough. But that protects the inside of the place. I for one am glad to see such protection. Many other places have similar, if perhaps not quite the same level of, protection, but... more

OMG! Words can not describe how this place looked from the outside. I had a few red flags before arriving that the Trapp Inn was not for me. Someone from the inn confirmed via email that a shuttle would be there to meet us, no shuttle. First bad sign. When I questioned the CR version of a skycap as to... more

Trapp Family Lodge is the perfect spot to stay for a night when leaving (or coming into) San Jose. My husband and I took a taxi there from our car rental place (Tricolor, which was great as well). We wound around through the streets and probably could not have found it on our own. Once there, we entered through the... more
