My boyfriend and I recently recently spent 5 days at Hotel Martino. The staff was unbelievable friendly and went above and beyond to try to accomodate our needs. They set up day tours and even a private day tour. Everyone was so nice to be around. The rooms were comfortable and the grounds were very nice. Pool was excellent. Great... More

Having read a few of the more recent reviews we were apprehensive about our stay at the Martino. The hotel is approximately 10-15 minutes from the airport which is wonderful for weary travelers! We found the hotel to be charming and clean; the staff was knowledgeable, attentive and helpful; the restaurant food was delicious! Mornings started with coffee on our... More

hotel looked ok at check in -front desk was nice and room looked fine. beds were tiny. the hotel felt old and creepy - no one else there. there were rodents in the roof that you could hear running all night - so gross. not close to the airport and no free shuttle. far from anything interesting to do. didn't... Where do I begin? First of all, I am shocked to see how many positive reviews this place had! We stayed at a $60 a night Best Western prior to our stay at the Martino that was much cleaner! The service was slow, the "resort" looks extremely outdated and run down, and worst of all, the room we stayed in... More

We stayed in the Martino only one night so that we could catch the plane out the next day. It looked like a place that might have been four star in the past. The front desk was very effecient. the room was average but they did not have door knobs on the door only a dead bolt which ment that... More

We spent 2 nights here at the beginning of our trip and found the Martino to be clean and comfortable, the food was excellent and the staff helpful. We will definitely stay there again when we return to Costa Rica next year.

Having spent the previous night in an awful hotel in Alajuela we decided to splash out a little for our last night in Costa Rica. Even so, £30pppn still isn't expensive! We simply showed up (11am) and our room was ready with 30 minutes from our unannounced arrival. The room was vast and clean, supplied with all the goods your... More

Hotel Martino is a wonderful choice when starting or ending your trip to Costa Rica if you fly to and from San Jose. The hotel is only 10 minutes away from the airport in the right direction, away from the city of San Jose, in the "garden district", many of the other hotels are the other direction and it's not... I was not impressed with the Martino. First day they could not find the key to our room, it took them one hour to find the key. Twice we had to take a shower with cold water and the towels they left in the room were falling apart at the edges. Also there was some kind of rodent living inside... More

I stayed in the Martino "Luxury Hotel & Spa" for two nights. The whole place looks somewhat worn down and the room was infested with three different types of ants as well as several other insects. The shower and fridge didn't really look too clean and the pool area was quite dirty as well. Breakfeast consisted of some white bread... More
