This place is atrocious. It's conveniently located however, there are insects all over the place that will get into your bags, clothes, bed. You have to go through a locked gate at the front in an area that doesn't feel safe at night (even the receptionist advised us against going out). The rooms look nothing like advertised, there is no... More

Clean room with fan, tv and clean shared bath for $32 (double). Ask for inside room (Poas) for less street noise. Friendly helpful owner. Breakfast included. Right downtown Alajuela. Close to airport ($5-6 for a taxi).

We stayd only 3/4 of night before flying early in the morning. Quit hotel (room not to street), value for money, only several minutes from the airport. I do not avaluate breakfast as we left earlier. also suitable to stay just after arriving - 24h desk.

We weren't really expecting much from this hotel. To start, it looks nothing like the photos (we got a queen room). The room was ok and noise is to be expected, our only problem was with the hotel entry. To get into the hotel, you have to buzz the gate. This apparently rings throughout the whole hotel. My friend and... More

Dear fellow travelers, I arrived at the Cala Inn in Alajuela on November 30th, 2014, in the afternoon. I paid $13 for the dorm room immediately on arrival. A few hours later, I heard guests discussing a noise the previous night with the employee. Apparently a loud alarm in the store beneath the guest house had started at midnight and... More

I stayed in the hotel for one night because of its proximity to the airport. The hotel is on a main street in Alajuela and it can be very noisy. It is however close to Alejuela's center. Another nice feature is that someone stays in the front desk 24h a day

The hotel was generally clean and the sheets were also clean. We booked a double room with shared bathroom for 28 dollars for this period of the year and we expected to see a double bed.Instead we had two single beds for the room but since it was our last night it was ok.The very positive think is the breakfast which... Free wifi Rooms small, but the rates are cheap. Clean bathrooms, although the shower could have been better. Very helpful staff. Good central location in town, but still only 5-10 mins from airport. Lounge - public area, with street front balcony. Kitchen available. Surprisingly quiet considering there's a main road outside. Ask for a back room (e.g. one named "MONTE... More

I rate this 4 stars based off of the price paid and the value. If you need a place to stay a day or two before you fly out, this is a great stop. Excellent location as you can walk to anywhere in town and you have 2 great parks to hang out in. We tried booking online (I think... More

We needed a place to sleep/stay for literally 7 hours. Arrived at the airport after midnight, and sure enough, they were ready to receive us upon arrival (sigh of relief). It was clean enough. Breakfast was good. A piece of the roof, however, right above our heads was blowing and banging in the wind of the storm early in the... More
