I was choose to stay in Alajuela then a night in San Jose yesterday , which was a great choice for itself. There is one area that have much of the hostels near the Plaza de Iglecia. I checked some of the places which were mostly dirty, unfriendly. Hostel Trotamundos is bigger, cleaner, public kitchen,Internet and hot showers. I was accommodated for... More

We got here pretty late at night and the owner checked us in. Right off the bat, there were a lot of communication issues because the owner does not speak any English. We were there for 2 nights and were originally in the front room on the second floor (shared bathroom). The other room had 3 guys in it and... More

Honestly, we loved the hostel because of the owner. He was very friendly & helpful. He was always there for us. He even gave us a ride to the airport at 4 in the moring. The room perfect for us. It was clean but I'd say it would need a little bit of decoration but thats just a tiny detail.... More

We stayed a night in a private room with bathroom for $25. The owner was really nice and very professional. He gave us good directions as to where we wanted to go. Very attentive to our well-being, he made sure we had breakfast before leaving for Poas despite running very late (we made it to the bus!). The room we... More

I stayed here on a Monday night and found it very peaceful and quiet. It's about a 7 min cab ride from the airport.I paid $10 for one of the dorms and the mattress was surprisingly very comfortable. One of the ladies who works there, Matilde, was super nice. She let me know the bus schedule to La Fortuna and... More

I am glad I found this peaceful, charming hostel in Alajuela. The man who ran it was very friendly and helpful. Excellent price for a private room with bathroom. A huge bonus was the free shuttle to the airport in the morning. I'll definitely go back there.

My wife and I had visited Costa Rica for about a week before going to the airport to find out a volcano had erupted effectively canceling all flights. To top it off, there were no more seats available on any flights until Friday. After sitting at the airport for hours getting drunk on Ron & Colas and feigning hope for... More

The staff here are super friendly and helpful. The location is prime since it is so close to the airport and it is near the central parks, bus stations, market, and restaurants. The breakfast was great and for the price you can't beat it. They had fruits, bread, cereal and coffee which is more than some hostels offer. All in... More

After nicaragua infected me with mites, I went to Alajeula to heal and see a doctor. I stayed here mainly for the airport shuttle and breakfast. The mattresses are nice in the dorm with a mattress cover. Wifi isn't strong but you can get it strongly in the front. Kitchen is available. Breakfast is bread, fruit, cereal and coffe or... More

So we thought this place was awesome since it had cheap dorms and a free shuttle to airport. All websites and even their signage outside says this! We arrived at 4pm and it wasn't until 9:30pm that they told us dorms were actually $12 and the shuttle is not allowed for those in dorms. We were really annoyed by them... More
