I was picked up at the airport, and dropped off the next day, so I didn't have to worry about cab hastles. The place was big, clean, bright and the owner very friendly. The breakfast in the morning was hot, fresh, and filling. I was only in San Jose for the night, but didn't want to go to a busy... more

We stayed here on our first day of our Costa Rica trip on August 17th 2009. I couldn't ask for a better place to start our trip. We booked all three rooms for two families. George even came to greet us at the airport! I highly recommend this place to any one looking for Home away from home. George and... more

This is a perfect place to stay after a long haul flight or to gather yourself ahead of a flight. The hosts are very accommodating, knowledgeable of the area and do a very good breakfast. Mike more

We stayed at Alegria on the first and last night of our first trip to Costa Rica. George and his family were very welcoming. The rooms and Alegria in general were great. Alegria is in a relatively quiet residential area in Alajuela. Alajuela is an okay city as far as things go but I find the real charm in Costa... more

When we first entered this house, my husband and I were met with the most genuine kindness we've ever experienced. We stayed here on our first night in Costa Rica after receiving a complimentary pickup from the airport, and loved it so much that we also stayed at Alegria the night before leaving the country. We were welcomed like old... more

We stayed here for two nights, one on each end of our recent trip to Costa Rica. It is a great place to lay over before or after a flight, as it's just minutes away from the airport, and is comfortable and affordable. Dolly and her family were wonderful, and she was always ready to help, be it ordering us... more

George and Dolly Hawkins, and Dolly's mom Doris, could not have been more warm and friendly. We felt like part of the family within 5 minutes of arriving. We stayed 3 nights during our 5 weeks in CR. We'd recommend this B&B most highly. The location makes it central to many of CR's attractions, so it would also make a... more

Dolly and George and Dory were very friendly, the room was great (we stayed half of our stay in each of the two larger rooms), and we enjoyed wonderful breakfasts. The house is also beautiful, with nice grounds and gardens and a pleasant terrace. Like all residential areas, homes are packed together with common walls between them, so sometimes there... more

Very clean, comfortable, convenient and affordable. Dolly, George and Dory were very accommodating and work with a guide/driver/translator that I would highly recommend for the total package! I wish we had longer to stay, but there is always next time. We used the B&B as "home base" and toured around central Costa Rica, including a 2 night stay at the... more

My husband and I decided to take our second annual family trip this year to Costa Rica. In our case family includes my three brothers and their wives. Our children are grown and we decided it was time for us to put some of that energy into ourselves. We made so many wonderful memories (and friends) in this slow paced,... more
