The Alegria lives up to all these great reviews. My girlfriend and I stayed here in April 2011 on arrival in Costa Rica, and we immediately felt relaxed and welcome when we met George. He's a lovely man with an amazing home - and he certainly makes a mean muffin for breakfast! George gave us some great tips for our... More

Had a lovely engaging time at the Algeria B&B prior to our flight out. Everything from our room to the breakfast to our host was fun and well done. Check here before any others. More

When looking at a bed and breakfast the people who are running it are as important as the rooms. The rooms are spotless, real hot water 24/7, mattress was very comfortable, location is safe and quite. Breakfast was great and filling. What made this an excellent choice was its owner. It can be a little tricky for a cab to... More

Can't really add a lot to the reviews already written. George is an excellent host, breakfast very good, accomodation within walking distance to the town (about 30 minutes walk for us anyway), beds fine, not a lot to add. Good value at $50 a night. We stayed 2 nights and it was good place to unwind from the flight -... More

Agree with previous reviewers regarding George as a welcoming and helpful host; he picked us up at the airport at 1:30 a.m....very delayed flight from Atlanta. Comfortable home and close to airport. Most helpful was having George arrange our car rental with local agency Tricolor. No problems with our rental and I'm sure this is attributed to their good working... More

We stayed in October 2011 a few nights and were pleased. The owner George found us a driver, Luis, who was kind and helpful, with a decent command of English. Luis even picked us up at the bus station when we returned from Panama and drove us back to spend our last night at George's place before returning home. That... More

I got in late from the airport and left early in the morning but everything was super comfortable and clean from the room to the semi-private bathroom. Delicious and fresh coffee, fruit and baked goods for breakfast. Thanks George! More

We just returned from Costa Rica & stayed at Alegria between our domestic flights. Alegria is clean, quiet, and close to SJO airport (10 min by taxi). As everyone has written, his breakfast muffins are delectable! George made us some 'to go' bags for our early morning flight, which we were very appreciative of when our stomachs started to growl.... Charming accommodations, delicious food, and great company! We stayed at the Alegria Bed & Breakfast on our first and last nights in Costa Rica, and could not recommend it more highly. George, the owner, gave us a friendly greeting, encouraging us to make ourselves at home. He first gave us a tour of the kitchen and showed us where to... More

We stayed two nights at Alegria Bed and Breakfast. George the host was very friendly and helpful and even invited us to dine with him one evening. The rooms were clean and comfortable and we were given a key to the room to secure our belongings. It is within walking distances to restaurants and shops. George suggested a great restaurant...
