Alegria is just minutes from SJO in a quiet neighborhood. The rooms in this at-one-time single-family home are nice. Great common areas for relaxing or watching TV. Extensive Costa Rica travel library. Highly recommended for a few day stay to visit the Alajuela area or as a place to make an airport connection. The banana bread at breakfast was delicious!

Our host, George, picked us up at the airport at midnight -- and made it seem like no trouble at all. He found us the best guide we've met in Costa Rica. He held our bags for us while we were gone, which made tricky logistics much simpler. We're having a wonderful time in Costa Rica, and it started with... More

This review is way over due. I've stayed at George's place a while ago. At the time, I went with my bf who is now my hubby. George picked us up from the airport really late and was an excellent driver. In the morning, he had fresh banana bread, fruits, and drinks for us. It was only the two of... More

George is a great, laid-back host! He made us feel right at home upon arriving. He went out of his way to make sure the wi-fi worked for a friend and the hot showers were the hottest in all of Costa Rica. My favorite part was waking up to fresh coffee, fritattas, juice, and plenty of fruit! Would recommend if... More

We stayed here with my parents for a couple days when we first got to Costa Rica and took a day trip out to La Paz Waterfall Gardens. George is a wonderful host who cooks outstanding breakfasts (frittata, tropical fruit, banana bread, coffee, and juice, for example), suggested a great place for lunch on the way back from La Paz... George is a great host and does everything to ensure that your stay is a comfortable one and that you are sent on your way for your next stage of your holiday. I would recommend this to anyone whose first language is english for a first night in Costa Rica after a tiring journey. Unfortunately, I was really looking for... More

We stayed for three nights at Alegria on our recent trip to Costa Rica and felt very welcome there. It was lovely to come from a rather damp couple of days in La Fortuna to a place where we could not only dry off properly but really make ourselves at home. George was a perfect host, helping us out with... More

George picked us up from the Airport at 9PM, settled us in by 10PM, and had us up and out the door by 6am to catch a shuttle service that he arranged for us to continue our journey to Montezuma and Cabuya. The breakfast he packed for us of fruit, banana bread (he made a special batch with no nuts... More

As others have said, Alegria is a true B&B with just three guest rooms and a very warm, friendly and helpful host, George. It is located in a quiet residential neighborhood just a 10-15 minute walk from the city center and a 10 minute ($5) taxi ride from the airport. My wife and I found Alegria to be a very... More

We just wrapped up a very comfy one night stay at George's place before heading back home to the states. George is a very lovely host and his home is very comfortable, with lots of cozy places to sit and read, hang out or or watch tv. The showers are hot and powerful, a rare find in Central America. The... More
