1915 is a gem in the city. DO NOT STAY in San Jose. Go to Alajuela and be 5 minutes from the airport. This hotel is clean and beautiful with a wonderful and helpful staff. The breakfast is also great and hotel is warm and cozy. It has the feeling of staying in someone's lovely home. Darwin at the front... More

I've stayed previously at Hotel 1915 for two continuous weeks while working with a church group. On a recent return trip, Hotel 1915 was used one night as a convenient location on arrival (before sight seeing at Monte Verde and La Fortuna) and two nights before departure. The hotel is still very convenient to the Airport -- about one mile... More

As other reviewers, we chose 1915 based on Lonely Planet guide, on our last night in Costa Rica, due to Alajuela's proximity to the airport. We made a reservation the morning of our arrival day, over the phone, and just left our first name with Adela, without having to give a credit card number. We notified that we would arrive... More

Based on Lonely Planet's recommendation, I made a reservation here. My husband and I were put in a house across the street. The unfriendly woman who let me in showed me our room, which had three beds (!), and assured me no one would be in the other bedroom. Good thing since there's only one bathroom. Since it is a... I stayed here the first and last nights of my Costa Rican vacation. The hotel is clean, the breakfast is great (you have your choice of Costa Rican breakfast or a more American style breakfast w/eggs) and the proximity to the airport is convenient. They have a parking lot across the street for your car if you have one. The... More

We stayed for 3 nights in Alajuela, in Hotel 1915, and that was by far one of the best hotels we've been into during our trip 3 weeks trip! Rooms were perfect for our needs, two double beds, A-C if required, Big TV, private bathroom and shower. The hotel interio is perfect for relaxing and hanging a little. You have... More

Our group speaks Spanish and had three rooms here and it was the perfect place for us. Clean, local flavor, restful interior with small gardens and open sky. With the tile floors, sound carries at night when people come and go occasionally. Also, it is centrally located, so there is some street noise. These were not a problem for us.... More

We chose Hotel 1915 because it had good reviews in Lonely Planet. We were not disappointed. It looks and feels good and Anna in reception went out of her way to help us sort out our plans for the next stage of our journey.

it is what it is.....a place to stay on your way to or from the airport. definitely the most charming place we stayed in costa rica. the interior is awesome. the staff were friendly. free wifi was helpful. gated parking (across the street) was great cause i didn't feel like unloading my surfboard. kinda noisy due to its location but... I reserved 3 rooms here for ourselves and friends several months ago, based solely on the reviews here on TripAdvisor.  I reconfirmed by e-mail just a few days before (and got a confirmed response), and even went so far as to guarantee it on my Amex card.  But when we arrived, the woman at the desk, who spoke no English,...
