Our family stayed here in March as a stop over between the airport and our shuttle to Cabuya. The hotel is in the heart of Alajuela on a narrow street and has a great old world vibe. Our room was very basic (but clean) but I was able to check out some of the other rooms and they were very... More

Manager Darwin was an EXEMPLARY host to my 31 high school students and 3 chaperones traveling to Costa Rica over this spring break. He and his staff made us feel like we were guests in their home, answering questions and seeing that our every need was met. The food was excellent, the room quality and cleanliness was EXCELLENT. The ambiance... More

I loved my stay at this hotel. Very friendly staff and in general a nice place in town. You can walk to stores, food places and shopping. I spend a week there with a mission group. we had breakfast every morning served in the dining room. My room were upstairs in the back. It was great, others had room by... More

The Hotel 1915 is an excellent location to enjoy downtown Alajuela. The rates are very reasonable and the hotel has a great design and history. Breakfast was included in our stay and was very tasty and timely served. The staff was very friendly and many of the guests are mission workers from the USA who make a point of staying... More

The photos don't lie, this place is beautiful and charming inside. It is a low-amenity hotel - despite its beauty, it's not fancy. I'm giving it 5 stars for what it is, but don't take that to mean it's upscale. It's clean, the staff were helpful and nice, and we slept well. The location and charm are why I chose... More

This little hotel was good located with nice interior atmosphere. The reception had "lost" our reservation but fortunately they had a room for us in a good price. Breakfast was poor, with a coffee like dish water (but then again it many times is in Costa Rica). Otherwise nice, but they didn't really answer to their emails/booking requests and then... More

We have stayed at 1915 many times! It is only a few blocks from the center of town. There is a great shop for fresh bread a block away and a little fish restaurant on the opposite corner. The police station is also across the street, so we always feel pretty safe! From the outside the hotel is very unassuming... More

Five minutes from the airport without traffic; 20 minutes with traffic, 1915 hotel is centrally located in Alajuela, the town in which the San Jose airport is actually located. It has a great breakfast, comfortable lounges, and adequate rooms. It's very easy to walk to the square, church, museum, shopping and eating. But with so much more to explore in... More

My husband booked this hotel for our last night stay in Costa Rica. We needed to head out to the airport by 4:00 am the next morning. I have to honestly say, I was so shocked when I first arrived. I even questioned my husband several times, if we arrived to the right place. From a quick glance at the... More

Stayed there for 2 nights and liked it. Conveniently located in downtown Alajuela, bus terminals and several inexpensive restaurants within walking distance, less than 10 minutes by taxi (3,000 colones) to Juan Santamaria airport. Not the cheapest option in Alajuela, but well worth the money - clean spacious rooms, comfortable beds, quality plumbing and great cook-to-order breakfast. One warning though... More
