The photos don't lie, this place is beautiful and charming inside. It is a low-amenity hotel - despite its beauty, it's not fancy. I'm giving it 5 stars for what it is, but don't take that to mean it's upscale. It's clean, the staff were helpful and nice, and we slept well. The location and charm are why I chose... More

This little hotel was good located with nice interior atmosphere. The reception had "lost" our reservation but fortunately they had a room for us in a good price. Breakfast was poor, with a coffee like dish water (but then again it many times is in Costa Rica). Otherwise nice, but they didn't really answer to their emails/booking requests and then... More

We have stayed at 1915 many times! It is only a few blocks from the center of town. There is a great shop for fresh bread a block away and a little fish restaurant on the opposite corner. The police station is also across the street, so we always feel pretty safe! From the outside the hotel is very unassuming... More

Five minutes from the airport without traffic; 20 minutes with traffic, 1915 hotel is centrally located in Alajuela, the town in which the San Jose airport is actually located. It has a great breakfast, comfortable lounges, and adequate rooms. It's very easy to walk to the square, church, museum, shopping and eating. But with so much more to explore in... More

My husband booked this hotel for our last night stay in Costa Rica. We needed to head out to the airport by 4:00 am the next morning. I have to honestly say, I was so shocked when I first arrived. I even questioned my husband several times, if we arrived to the right place. From a quick glance at the... More

Stayed there for 2 nights and liked it. Conveniently located in downtown Alajuela, bus terminals and several inexpensive restaurants within walking distance, less than 10 minutes by taxi (3,000 colones) to Juan Santamaria airport. Not the cheapest option in Alajuela, but well worth the money - clean spacious rooms, comfortable beds, quality plumbing and great cook-to-order breakfast. One warning though... More

Stayed 2 different nights at this hotel before flying out in the morning. Both stays were just great. A $6.00 cab fare to the airport after a night with a clean room, good bed, hot shower and breakfast to boot unless you're leaving very early. Wonderful hospitality letting us use their telephone, allowing us to store our luggage after checkout.... More

I've stayed here two different times with a mission team. The first was in for one night in 2010. The second was for a week in 2011. Both were in July. The hotel is wonderful. The rooms are very comfortable, bathrooms are clean and have hot showers. The indoor common areas are tucked in different areas of the hotel, so... More

Really enjoyed staying at 1915 Hotel. The old Spanish decor was lovely. Staff were incredibly helpful -- let us store our suitcases overnight, let me use their phone to make a call. We had a suite with a balcony overlooking the roofs down to the square and distant San Jose -- beautiful view. There was off street parking for our... More

We had a lovely night's stay here, relaxing in the comfortable lounges filled with sofas, elegant side tables, and lush, green plantings inside the lounge. Our room was comfortable too, (though not spacious by American standards, ....the "queen" bed was what I would call a double). The elegant bed had the most comfortable mattress of the 3 hotels we stayed... More
