This is a very nice hotel, but falls well short of a 5-star advertised status. In any hotel, irrespective of price range, my basic requirements are quiet, a decent bed, good internet access, comfortable temperature, clean bathroom, some kind of gym and a work desk. In a 5-star hotel, I expect very quiet, excellent internet access, effective and quiet temperature... More

This hotel is very nice, spacious room, etc. It's a long way from Pu Dong (PVG), my cab ride was well over an hour, luckily my business contacts set up the cab since I'm not sure I'd have ever been able to explain to the cab driver. My only real complaint is a big one, the wifi was very slow... More

The New Century Hotel is located on the outskirts of Shanghai, near an industrial zone. The ride on the highway from HongQiao Airport takes +/- one hour and not 20 minutes as specified in the hotel advertisement. Hotel guests arre are business travellers, as it is not suitable for Shanghai tourists. The hotel has over 450 rooms which are large... More

I liked the location of the hotel, as it is just next to supermarkets, close to the Metro station and universities - where I had work. The room was very spacious and well-maintained. There was an issue with my shower - which the staff helped fix. Language was an issue, as they did not understand completely when I complained about the... More

Rooms are well appointed and the facilities are good. Restaurant is an extensive buffet of traditional fayre, sushi and some attempts at western cuisine. The neat aspect is that beer is included in the buffet cost. The staff are delightful and every time I have stayed there I have been acknowledged and well looked after. The foyer is a little... This hotel is not one you would choose to visit Shanghai Central, it is more use if you need to be in the Songjian Area, then it will be good for you. A taxi into Central Shanghai will cost RMB100, whilst a taxi to the Metro Subway will cost RMB14 and a day card on the metro about RMB18, it... More

Very nice hotel -- comfortable, well-appointed room with a fabulous bathroom. Nice park across the street and several interesting sites to visit within a short taxi ride. Breakfast buffet was fabulous, although if you book through a discount site, it may not be included in your room rate. Songjiang is a little far from the city center, so if you... More

This is a great hotel with good ammenities. The SPA is very nice but a bit expensive. It is also connected to a shopping centre with plenty gift shops and decent restaurants. The rooms are clean and the service good. The major downside to this hotel is its location. It is very far (+-1hr) from any sight seeing places in... More

Good Points: 1. The rooms are fairly spacious, bathroom was nice and clean. 2. Hotel is located next door to a shopping mall of which you could find a variety of restaurants to eat from including McDonald's, KFC, Starbucks for coffee, etc. 2. The shops are brand name outlets but quite quite pricy. Weak Points: 1. Its located about an... More

Spent 5 nights at the New Century, and find it hard to fault! It IS hard to get the temperature in the room down below 70C, but on the plus side, I didn't have my usual air conditioning respiratory "issue"! The complementary breakfast offered a good variety of western options, I felt safe walking around the lake and to the... More
