Yes, the room are nice and spacious. The beds are wonderful, and de location is excellent. But there is too much wrong with this hotel to let it have 5 stars. Boutique also means understaffed, so the staff too often asks you to solve your problems yourself. Need coffee cups? You can fetch them yourself. Putting your campagne cold? You... More

The rooms are unbelieveably huge. The bathroom itself can be a bedroom! Robes are provided. Comes with a double bed and a lounge that can comfortably sleep one. The toiletries are branded and good. Location wise is walking distance to Xintiandi and 2 subway stations. Service is good though they had mentioned to us we burnt their curtains with our... More

The room was just awesome. I had the change to have a free upgrade from standard room to a magnificent suite. The reception staff is great, but the Chinese restaurant is a disaster. The hotel is though nicely located in the hart of the French quarter in a quite street.

This is a wonderful hotel for the room and the size of the room. Beautiful but the service is the worse that I have experienced in some time. The breakfast was terrible so we went either to Starbucks or even McD. They could not get a taxi even when we asked the night before. This is ridiculous. A wonderful room... More

Thumbs up for the size of room and the amenities in the room ranging from the kitchenette to the hifi and surround system. The office table even had a printer! The bed was very large but too soft, and made my back feel uncomfortably curved. I was checked into a room that had a faulty TV and DVD in the... More

The hotel is in a nice neighborhood. From the nearest underground station you may have to use the overpass over a big street which is not super comfy with all luggage. We recommend to arrive by taxi. The hotel is pretty stylish and the rooms are spacious. However, we (3 pax) have booked a family room and were given a... More

Oh my God we LOVED our deluxe room! Massive comfy bed and pillows, a chaise lounge sectioned off, lovely lighting, TV/bar dividing the bed from the desk, mini kitchen, huge long bathroom with spa bath, 2 sinks, bath robes, lounging around robes/kimonos, monsoon shower, gorgeously decorated with attention to detail - I don't know if all the rooms are like... The hotel is well located, next to Fuxing Park and a short walk from a plethora of restaurants and shopping. Though decent, the hotel itself is beginning to show its age. The rooms are spacious, but a tad worn. The top floor bar/ restaurant mentioned in the hotel description was never open when I visited (in the early evening), but... More

I stayed at the Pudi Boutique hotel for 7 nights in May during a business trip as the hotel was right next to the buidling i was working in. This is in a quiet area of the city and is about 20 minutes taxi ride to somewhere like the Bund. It is also just around the corner from the beautiful... More

Staying in Former French Concession

Neighborhood Profile
Former French Concession
While there are technical borders to the area formerly governed by the French in Shanghai, the "French Concession" of today is an amorphous neighborhood that is a favorite of the city's foreign residents. While it is mostly within the Xuhui district, residents will sometimes include parts of Jing'an and Luwan in their mental maps of the Former French Concession. The area seems frozen in time, characterized by quiet, tree-lined avenues, French-style villas, interesting boutiques, lively bars and quaint cafes that are not typical of China. All of these mix and mingle with local life as Chinese markets and lanehouse communities are peppered throughout. Denizens of the Former French Concession can spectate a mahjong game on the street or get their bike checked at a tiny bike repair store on the way to their refurbished apartment tucked away among Chinese family homes.
