Stayed here for a few nights on my business trip, very warm welcome by all staff with great detail of attention - the bell boy in particular was very attentive. The hotel in part was being renovated with scaffolding outside however this was not an issue - my room was superb being an upgrade to a suite - very nice... More

For the price point, The Paramount Gallery is a good choice. The location is perfect. My room faced the ancient Jian'an Temple with tremendous views of the city. You sit literally atop Metro Line 2's Jian'an Temple stop. During my visit in late April, the hotel had no AC or heat, and my room was uncomfortably warm at 26 degrees... More

Starting with the positives, this hotel is very centrally located and, for the most part, the staff were very helpful. Unfortunately our stay didn't start very well. We turned up after a 12 hour flight to find out that the room we had booked couldn't fit all four of us - this is despite me having emailed the hotel to... More

Booked the room 4 nights on C-trip, somehow the hotel assigned us twin room that we got no option had to pay US$50 per night upgrade to a suite, but it worth every penny of it! Suite room is at the corner with great view from both side, double space then standard room plus a huge bathroom equipped separate toilet,... More

I stayed at this hotel for two days. Arrived early morning, I did not expect to be able to get early check in. I was fortunate that despite of the staff's limited English, I was granted a room. I was asked to enjoy breakfast first while waiting 30 min for my room to be prepared. I was impressed by the... More

I've been in Shanghai for business and my customer arranged this hotel. I'm highly thankful for the choice. The hotel is placed at the main road- Nanjing Road - next to a Buddhist temple (you must visit there) and near the best famous firms shops in the world (Fendi, Louis Vuitton, Ferrari, Masserati and so on) It's like being walking... As far as amenities and location, Paramount Gallery is excellent. Great location for anything business related. Ambiance of the hotel is pretty barren. The entrance is somewhat nondescript and really doesn't give you any feel of comfort. The decor of the room aims for "classy" with antique feel. My preference would be more "modern" Large bathroom with separate glass stalls... More

If you are looking for a convenience but inexpensive hotel for a quick business trip, or even some sight seeing, in the heart of Shanghai, this is the one for you. It's within walking distance to some of the office locations such as the Kerry Centre and within 10 minutes taxi to all major downtown locations. And it's easy to... More

Stayed 3 nights in this hotel for a business trip. Pros: Great Location, just across the Metro Line 2 and 7 (Jing'an Temple), plenty of restaurants and shopping nearby Clean, spacious rooms, Big TV and bathroom Competent English speaking staff Fast internet Reasonable price Cons: Small fitness center Note that if you're coming from the Metro Station, Exit no. 1.... My boyfriend picked this hotel in our last trip to Shanghai, that's a good pick. As the room is very big, comfy, clean, and comes with lots of amenities. Our favorite part of the room is the flexible Huge TV, which you can turn to different sides, no matter you're sitting on the couch or lying on the bed you... More

Staying in Jing'an

Neighborhood Profile
Jing'an
The heart of this neighborhood is the Jing'an Temple, while the main artery of excitement and entertainment is West Nanjing Road. Close to the Former French Concession, the area has a similar draw for foreign residents but displays a more commercial character. Large, flashy malls, luxe residential high-rises and trendy nightlife areas can be found along West Nanjing Road, but areas off the busy street have the same quiet cafes and independent boutiques that many people think of as distinctive of the Former French Concession. Jing'an is less encased in amber, though, and it's possible to immerse yourself more fully in the energy of China's most bustling metropolis here.
