THE MOST DISGUSTING HOTEL EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE. My hotel standards are pretty low. I just want a clean, safe room. I have been all over the world and in all my travels I have never refused to stay in a hotel. This hotel was so terrible I checked out after 10 minutes in the room. The toilet barely worked... more

The hotel is in a great location on pedestrian Nanjing Road, though the entrance through a men's clothing store is a little odd. My room faced Nanjing Road and was a bit noisy in the evening with all of the pedestrian traffic and music outside, but was quieter after 10PM. more

the hotel is in a great central location right in the heart of the East Nanjing Road area. while the bedding and bathroom were very clean, one of the walls in the bedroom was filthy, and the on/off handle on the shower was broken, making it very hard to work the shower. the corridors looked shabby and smelt damp -... more

The hotel has a very nice location right on the shopping street of Nanjing Road. When you arrive there by taxi you will need to walk a few minutes because it is a pedestrian street. The room was large, but had a dirty carpet and looked boring/ugly. The staff was unfriendly and very unhelpful. The hotel didn't have any internet-options.... more

A fine little China hotel, located right in heart of bustling East Nanjing road. This main shopping street is 'sort of ' pedestrianised and is a blessing with regard to Chinas busy and sometimes unpredicatable traffic movements. Hotel entry is from within, one of the main department stores clothes shops ! on ground level. Room was overall fine for the... more

To get there by subway: Take Line 2 and exit People's Square and take one of the 3 exits that takes you to East Nanjing/People's Park. Take the walkway that goes under the street and takes you back up to the street right onto East Nanjing Rd. Then walk for about 10-15 mins and you'll see the hotel. Take the... more

I stayed in three different hotels in China and this one was the worst one by far. The concierge was unwilling to answer any questions most of the time. The wall in the room was strained and dirty. there was no safe in the room and felt unsafe to leave important belongings in the hotel. Also, at night it was... more

The Hotel is currently undergoing renovation on the third floor. We ended up in a twin room on the floor with the most construction (including exposed live wires all over the place ) - having to walk though a building site to get from Reception to our room....no attempt made by staff to move us to another room. Also found... more

Thank you to the previous reviewer for putting us on to this small chinese business hotel on Nanjing Road. We booked this hotel for four nights through expedia.com. We picked the cheapest room at the time which was a twin. It cost us $US 47 per night although you may be able to negotiate a cheaper rate if you showed... more

We really enjoyed our stay at the East Asia Hotel. It was really affordable at 380 RMB for a double room facing Nanjing Road. Some people found the road side to be a bit noisy but the noise always died down by 10pm. Besides, you're in a big city not the country so we found it tolerable. The location was... more
