Hotel is 20 minute walk (alongside a polluted and smelly tributary) from The Bund. There are metro stations 10 minutes walk away but the hotel staff less than helpful with directions. Breakfast choices not great and first time I had the misfortune to discover the temperature at which the Chinese serve a cooked breakfast. Traffic noise from the main road... More

Stayed here for 5 days on business in May 2014 - while the heat outside was still very reasonable, the room (and others on the same floor) were very hot (25C and upwards) despite the airconditioning running full time. Several comments to the front desk didn't make a difference. I'd be careful booking this hotel during the scorchingly hot summer... More

We enjoyed our stay here on the basis of the location and excellent room. If you have the opportunity, walk around the back of the hotel (left out the front, left at the corner, first left again) and explore the local area behind the hotel. A buzzing market, local shops and friendly people happy to say hello.... a real highlight.... More

My first stop on my tour of China was here at the Greenland Jiulong hotel in Shanghai. On approach to the hotel i noticed it had that Chinese feel about it with the two huge stone dogs outside the entrance. The doorman greeted us in Mandarin and then English as well as the check in staff. The check in staff... More

The good: Great location, 30 min walk from the bund through old Shanghai; characteristic old Shanghai neighbourhood just behind the hotel; art galleries and boutiques in the old slaughterhouse right next to the hotel; the rooms the higher the better (17th floor up); free wifi and Internet (also in the rooms); smoking area in the lobby; The bad: beware of... This was the first part of our Wendy Wu tour of China. We arrived at the hotel in the morning and were told that as there were no standard double rooms yet cleaned they ungraded us to a mini suite. The room was comfortable with a separate sitting room. In general the room was hot as despite being mid May... More

The location wasn't fantastic, but overall, the bed was very comfortable, the water was hot, the rooms were clean. English speaking staff was a problem, but we found this to be the same all through China. The restaurant food was great, but a bit on the expensive side. This hotel was booked through our tour company & we would stay... More

We came as part of a tour group and were so disappointed. The room was smelly and dirty. I had to sleep with my clothes on. We were so tired so just went to sleep and complained in the morning. They cleaned somewhat but ultimately still smelly. I can't believe our tour guide had the nerve to call it a... More

When we opened the door to our room (#24) on the 21st floor - first thoughts were WOW!! The decor on first glance was stunning - for a low cost hotel. However on second glance the carpet was old, worn and dirty and there was a large dark stain right in the middle of the seat on the arm chair.... More

Staying a week in this hotel has motivated me to actually join tripadvisor to leave a review / warning. Beware room 1003, even the dust was filthy. (Possibly the most disgusting room I have ever experienced, and I have experienced a lot of hotels worldwide.) All I ask from a hotel is that the windows close, the doors lock and... More
