We had a good sized bedroom with a large bathroom on the 23rd (said executive floor on lift button?) with a bath and a shower. The bedroom was very good but the bathroom drains had a bad odour, we conplained about it and it seemed to be OK, but the smell returned so it must be integral to the hotels... More

Like many hotels in China, the Greenland Juilong Hotel in Shanghai presents a good impression in the foyer, bar and lounge areas but the bedrooms are poor. Mine was filthy and very poorly maintained. The bathroom floor was covered in cigarette ash ( in a non-smoking room!) and carpets and wall coverings were stained. Bar prices are higher than average... More

I stayed at the Jiulong hotel twice and have experienced quite consistent service there. The hotel is very much a business hotel, rather than one for tourists. Room are spacious and well appointed. Staff were pleasant throughout. The hotel has a very good restaurant on one of the top floor, and the breakfast buffet was adequate, especially if you are... More

Stayed for two nights here. Just another average hotel. A short drive from The Bund. The shower in the room was funny and changed from extremely hot to cold on its own... There were annoying pimps outside the hotel during the night. The beds and room were decent. Overall an average place.

The last stop on our Wendy Wu tour. Room was fairly large and comfortable. The bathroom had a bath and separate shower. There were some rough edges on the tiling but otherwise ok. Breakfast was good but always very busy. The most annoying element in this hotel was the lift. Often only 2 out of 4 working, 25 floors and... More

I booked my stay online on their own website. Booking was easy but the confirmation email was in chinese. I don't read chinese or speak it for that matter so I emailed to confirm that the booking had been made. I got no reply. 7 emails later there was still no reply. I thought ok...I'll turn up and hope for... More

Best bed I slept in China. Only 2 elevators were working out of four. very difficult when traveling with 136 people and they didn't always stop on floors etc... The wifi was very spotty and would not always work in the room which was frustrating at time. Breakfast was on the 25th floor. It was fine.

Good hotel, but in a location with no restaurants and the hotel's one closes at 9pm....good breakfast and soft beds (who travels China can understand...usually beds are made of stone)....the staff is completely useless: no english and no efforts to try to understand any request.....also at the reception.Internet works badly and everyone gives a different server name and password for connection.

Staying in Hongkou

Neighborhood Profile
Hongkou
History oozes out of every fiber of the city, but Hongkou is a particularly notable neighborhood. Shanghai was a safe haven for about 20,000 Jews during the Second World War, and traces of this heritage can still be found in buildings and park monuments. Historic foreign relations aside, this neighborhood throws you into traditional Shanghainese life without taking you too far away from the city center. Some of the city’s best-preserved, ancient longtangs (laneway communities) and shikumen (Shanghainese lanehouses) are still in use as actual residences here. If you like to be surrounded by local faces, Hongkou is a great area to spend your time in. The football stadium, Duolun Lu and the North Bund area await should you need some entertainment.
