This hotel simply gets 5 stars for what we paid. Absolute bargain. We had a clean room on the 16th floor with great city views. Bathroom was nice and comes with the usual complementaries. The room also comes with a water cooler and minibar. The breakfast was ok and better than others in China. Would definitely recommend this hotel and... More

The location is really hard to beat as you barely have to leave the street to have a fun experience. Nanjing Dong Lu is full of shopping, restaurants, crowds, lights and sounds. There are some great restaurants buried on the upper levels of some of the malls but they are not always easy to find or access. I highly recommend... More

Stayed here for 6 nights in May 2015 and after reading reviews was not hopeful. There are 2 subway station exits which put you directly on Nanjing road one either side. Can't remember which number each is, but if you go the wrong way on Nanjing road you will quickly come to the Apple Phone store on your left, so... More

Surprisingly good for the price. Contrary to previous posts my room was very clean well presented and had a window that opened. Sleep quality high, bathroom modern and good size, nice touch with endless bottled water with instant heater. Good work desk and very fast 30mb internet speed, though at time erratic..but that is China. Would stay again if need... More

Service is basically non-existent. Room is old and smelly (smoke/cigarette smell). Weak wifi. But at half the price of other hotels in the area, can't really complain. Location is excellent, walking distance to Nanjing Road and Bund. Subway station is only few mins walk away as well. Overall, a basic hotel for a night of sleep. Set you expectation accordingly... Staff rated from "do they even care that I'm here?" to mediocre. Breakfast was ridiculous. They should just not serve anything. Old reheated cobs of corn, lukewarm sausages, peanuts, boiled eggs. But it will keep you alive, maybe, if you're on a budget. That being said, my room was clean and comfortable. Location was great, easy to get to metro... More

I chose this hotel because of its location, which is ideal for the shopping district and the Bund, and, most importantly, very easy to find when arriving by subway - it is literally on East Nanjing Road above some shops and is a tall building which is easy to find. That was the major attraction. The hotel is old and... More

Our stay at this hotel wasn't the best one we had. The staff at the reception was not very inviting, the paint and smoke smell neither. We had a twin room at the 8th floor. It was somewhat clean. If we would have had to stay here more than two days i would have changed the hotel. Out of the... More

We got a very good price on Hotels.com and stayed at this hotel one night. We left for Hangzhou and stayed in Shanghai for one day before we returned home. It was easy to take the Subway from Hongqiao train station to here, Subway line #2! The other end of Subway line #2 is PuDong airport (so if you land... More

Conveniently located in East Nanjing road. Less than 10 mins walk to Subway (Exit 1). Hotel is good for travelers who is not fuzzy about luxury, just wanting a clean comfortable room. This hotel is all about the location, location, location and affordable price. The hotel is a bit outdated but I didn't mind for the night since it is... More

Staying in People’s Square

Neighborhood Profile
People’s Square
People’s Square brings with it all the excitement you would expect from the town square of one of the biggest cities in the world. The area around People’s Square and People’s Park is always a abuzz with activity. Oceans of local and foreign tourists flow in and out of the area every day to see grand museums, go shopping and eat at some of Shanghai’s most storied food centers. Shanghai residents, meanwhile, live and work in the many residential and office high-rises. While much of Shanghai stays busy late into the night, this really is an area that never sleeps with glitzy nightclubs keeping people up until the wee hours of the morning.
