Only stayed here for the one night but there were security issues with people going in and out of a second entry point with no one checking if they belonged to any of the rooms. The location of this hotel is exceptional in regards to getting to Walking Street or even to the Bund.

The Hotel has a great advantage of location. However I do not think that the Hotel is making best advantage of it. The smelly corridors are repulsive. Rooms are fairly okay and wi-fi works well. I had seen the same hotel earlier , probably 2006 and was much better then. Its morning buffet breakfast was good. Staff at the Hospitality... More

The hotel staff is helpful, specially the boys standing next to the reception. The location is amazing. Nanjing street is across the road. You can reach People's square metro station which is a few minutes walk and then you can reach anywhere you want.

Location is very good, near to Nanjin road. Some how I don't like the smell. Inside looks very old. Service is not very great. They speak only little English. just an average hotel. Wifi is very very bad.

When I stepped inside the hotel, I wanted to walk away. The staff attitude is very poor. My room is dark, smelly and no view whatsoever as it's at the back of the building. Would not recommend for anyone!!!

The hotel's main advantages are its location and its price. The room I had (a single interior) was ok. Nothing special. But it was a great base for walking down to the Bund, and is convenient for public transport. There are convenience stores close by.

The location of the hotel is a big big plus. Close to gate 15 of Peoples square metro station and next to so many good restaurants. Beware of the sleezy massage parlours, K TV places around the place. Bund is a 15 min walk and most of the clubs are close to this place.. 5 star for the place

Stayed 5 nights at Sharms hotel with my wife and little son. We were surprised of the good location of the hotel, to that low price. The room was ok, even though the wiew was not against the street. Bathroom were clean, but not spotless. I used my own WiFi (each room has their own cable), so I didn't try... More

One of the dirtiest hotel ever stayed in china. Other than the location nothing is worth mentioning. Very dirty, outdated rooms. The concerige lied to us that the line 2 of subway is not working because he wanted us to take taxi from them to go to the airport. Don't stay at this cigarette smelling hotel. The breakfast is not... More

Location is the big plus for the Charms Hotel, Shanghai. The rooms were adequate and functional, a little dated but otherwise ok. The bellboy and concierge are very good at organising expensive transfers – advice is to organise your own or get stung. This is an average hotel in a great location. It is close to Nanjing Road, The Bund,... More

Staying in People’s Square

Neighborhood Profile
People’s Square
People’s Square brings with it all the excitement you would expect from the town square of one of the biggest cities in the world. The area around People’s Square and People’s Park is always a abuzz with activity. Oceans of local and foreign tourists flow in and out of the area every day to see grand museums, go shopping and eat at some of Shanghai’s most storied food centers. Shanghai residents, meanwhile, live and work in the many residential and office high-rises. While much of Shanghai stays busy late into the night, this really is an area that never sleeps with glitzy nightclubs keeping people up until the wee hours of the morning.
