The Swan is on the north side of Shanghai, across the street from Lu Xun Park. The hotel itself has clean rooms which are of average size. It could use another elevator (two aren't enough for this 18-story hotel), but generally, it's fine. And, for being in one of the largest cities in the world and on a busy street,... More

I stayed in Swan hotel for 5 weeks. Service is very good but food was average. Situated near Hongkou football stadium and Lu Xun park. It is on one of the busiest parts of Shanghai. Only downside is not much activity be done in the hotel.

Stayed here as part of a tour. The hotel generally was a little tired but the room was excellent ie roomy, clean and quite. WiFi was not available in the room only in the lobby and the login process was painful - we got bumped off quickly. The park opposite was a dream if you want to experience local culture.

Hotel has good beds and bedding and hot showers. The location is ok for the price. The breakfasts are awful they cater more for Chinese tastes but all the food was cold. The staff did bring out additional yogurts and fried eggs for westerners. Beware of asking for a hot fried egg as they will microwave a cold one. I... More

Stayed here for a week during tour. Had to switch rooms as the first was very smoky. Doors didn't seal into hallway so it was like having all smoke in every room combined. Was then moved to the 18th floor which was great as the traffic noise was lessened and no more smoke. Room was in much better condition as... More

I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights as a part of a tour I took with my college. The lobby was nice and big and even if the hotel only has two elevators I never waited too long for one. But the kicker was the room. It was a little too small (at least 712 was). I looked at... More

Not too sure about the location - had several taxis refuse to take me to it from the Bund area... eventually found one. There is an opaque glass wall between bathroom & room - kinda weird. Room was okay for cleanliness. Breakfast was okay. The bar at the hotel was expensive. The staff at the front & concierge was very... More

The best thing about the Swan Hotel is the location. It is by the Honkou Soccer Stadium and right near the park with access to two subway lines, the 3 and the 8. The area around the hotel is the Sichuan Bei Luan shopping area with everything from Watsons to Pizza Hut to Starbucks. The room had wired Internet access... More

Typically for a mid-price Chinese hotel, the building looks weathered and the aesthetics deteriorate the further inside you get. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the staff's helpfulness and professionalism, and for my purposes the location is ideal. If you are used to traveling in China or are able to cut the brand-name hotel umbilical cord, the Swan's shortcomings will... More
