This hotel is a surprise. Although it is not in the center, it is a unique building (designed by a father for his daughter as a dream castle like building). What is nice is having a breakfast in the garden. One huge negative : the staff does not speak well english and there is no concierge to help you which... More

The Hengshan Moller Villa is an intriguing bit of Shanghai's pre-revolutionary past, with unique architecture and interiors. I stayed in the new wing (rooms in the old, original section cost extra). My room was clean and comfortable, but did not have a safe. BBC, Bloomberg and HBO were available on the large flat-screen TV. Breakfast, which was included in my... More

We wanted somewhere interesting and memorable to stay in Shanghai - not just another high rise hotel. So, we chose Moller Villa. We travelled with another family - 3 kids between us - and the children were entranced. They spent an afternoon sitting in the Japanese garden pretending to be knights. This is a very magical place. It's location is... More

I have stayed at this hotel a few times. I fell in love with its quaint style. The exterior is a bit like a Walt Disney castle in the middle of this metropolitan city. The breakfast is very Chinese and nothing to rave about, the service is very Chinese and nothing to rave about and if, as so happened the... More

The building is a fairytale itself.. They are having colourful lights at night around the hotel, especially at towers of the building. The rooms are quite comfortable and clean.. The only thing is, English level of staff is really bad, the people st reception is a bit better but the rest can not speak in English..

Lovely historic property, situated in one of Shanghai's funky areas. Plenty of local life in the surrounding streets. The property is of a high standard, though if there is one shortcoming it is the strength of wifi network. The staff are friendly thought typically reserved.

We stayed here for four nights in December. It's a lovely hotel, very beautifully decorated. The rooms were not big, but they were clean and unusual -- something different from your everyday chain hotel. The service was good and the breakfast was a nice combination of Chinese and western food. Also, the location was excellent, not far from the subway.... More

This hotel is quite a spectacle, with its different brickwork and turrets and towers. Rooms were small, but luxurious, even had a toilet seat warmer and bidet system fitted! Defintely the nicest hotel of our trip. Very comfortable, large bed. Breakfast was included but served in a separate building which meant going outside in the rain. Although the bellboys run... More

This is an outstanding hotel. The building has a magical quality, especially when it's lit up at night. Even the "superior" room (the lowest of the range) is well furnished, and - unusually for China - has a comfortable bed that is not too hard. Free local bottled water, as well as fruit and a chocolate bar, are provided. (But... More

We stayed two nights in the superior business room at the end of a two week China trip. Our room was a gorgeous affair with the softest king bed, huge bay window, tastefully decorated with nice little details such as a bedside clock that lights up when tipped. We loved the wood and marble floors and enjoyed a relaxing soak... More
