As this was our first trip to Shanghai we found the hotel to be walking distance to lots of things to do in the city , the hotel itself was quite good but some of the staff needed to be a bit more helpful and the breakfast needs to be a bit better prepared it may be alright to cook... More

Thank you for your accommodation and we are sincerely sorry to have broutht you inconvenience. We have invested the problem and found that on Mar.11 some spirit lamps were unchanged after 9:30 a.m.,therefore the dishes were cold. We have punished related staff, and will strengthen management to avoid the problem next time. More

Gorgeous old hotel, once the tallest in Shanghai, well located - across from The Peoples Park, easy stroll to Nanjing Road shopping area but away from the crowds. We walked to and back from The Bund along Nanjing Road ( through the shopping area) be prepared for well known high street shops mixed lots of neon, touts and beggars, total... More

Overall this hotel had no major issue and If the price was right I would happily stay here again. The rooms and facilities are dated but this is an historic building and at least it retains some character from a forgotten era. Check-in was quite long winded as they couldn't work out my VISA, I would have thought this would... More

This apparently used to be the tallest and grandest building in Shanghai at one time. This is a very old hotel catering to mostly a domestic crowd (at least when I was staying in December). I got this hotel from Priceline Express and it was rated as 4 star. I would rate it as 3 star. The hotel looks tired... More

Opened in 1934 the hotel appeared to be the tallest buildings in the whole of Asia then. Nowadays the impressive building sits quietly in between its enormous colleagues in perfect walking distance of Nanjing street.. The strong (musk like) scent in the lobby of the building reveals the hotel is an old(er) one but with a great touch of character.... More

If it wasn't for the great location this hotel would be very forgettable. The hotel is old (at one stage in the 50's it was the tallest building in China) but is kept in good condition and has a certain charm of its own. The staff were helpful but a little on the cold side. The biggest area of concern... More

We always choose our hotel using few arguments: what does other people say about the hotel, what is the location compared to our interests and naturally the price. This hotel is really a very nice place to stay - in the middle of Shanghai actually! The rooms are clean, cosy, the bed is good for good nights sleep and the... More

Very convenient hotel, with a wide variety breakfast directly at the corner of the main shopping street Nanjing Road. Outside the hotel there always is the bright chinese busy life. Music at the corner of the street. Many nice shopping malls and a variety of restaurants in the area. The hotel has a very important history. In the 60s it... More
