Beautiful art deco building across from the subway station and only a few minutes to People's Square, great place to stay if you plan to explore. Breakfast buffet was excellent serving both eastern and western food. Rooms are a little small, but well appointed with great amenities, and while some rooms could use refreshing, they were very clean and maintained.... More

The Park Hotel is a beautiful Art Deco hotel opposite The People's Square in Shanghai; I love architecture and was very excited to stumble across this gem. However, when we decided to have a drink the foyer bar we first glared at by the waitresses. We had to call out to the staff for service, to place our order and... More

The Park Hotel Shanghai is truly a remarkable hotel. This Art Deco marvel - is perfectly situated in the center of Shanghai - directly across from the Peoples Square Subway Station, walking distance to The Bund, Shanghai Museum, and many other sights, Also, the Big Bus tour buses stop about a block away from the hotel. You are truly at... More

This was a terrible experience! We waited forever to be noticed that we needed something! I had to go fetch a waiter! We wanted high tea and were told that we couldn't order it even though it was on the menu! We then wanted to order champagne, and were told we couldn't order it! What kind of historical landmark does... More

The location is great - near to People's square, Nianjing Road, the Bund, and many other locations. The history is fantastic - one Shanghai's historically prominent hotels - I think Kissinger was said to have stayed here, amongst many others. All that said, a colleague described the place as an 'old man's closet' and he was lying. The place has... More

Designed by eminent Czech architect Ladislau Hudec who designed many important Shanghai buildings the Park Hotel was built in 1934. Shanghai's first skyscraper was designed in the Art Deco style. This building is also notble for stimulating the career of Chinese American architect I M Pei who lived nearby and was so impressed with the Park Hotel he decided to... More

The hotel was built in the 1930s and renovated several years ago. It's perfectly located, near several subway lines and on the famous Nanjing Road. However, the room I got was really smelly and wet. All facilities were on the worn out end. I probably won't go back because I do care a lot about the comfort of the room.

I recently stayed at the Park Hotel along with the 48 students and 20 staff who I was traveling with. The hotel staff are extremely helpful. The rooms are high quality and lovely and clean. The comfortable beds do not echo the traditional firmness that you usually encounter in Asian hotels. The location is wonderful. The People's Park is directly... More

Staying in People’s Square

Neighborhood Profile
People’s Square
People’s Square brings with it all the excitement you would expect from the town square of one of the biggest cities in the world. The area around People’s Square and People’s Park is always a abuzz with activity. Oceans of local and foreign tourists flow in and out of the area every day to see grand museums, go shopping and eat at some of Shanghai’s most storied food centers. Shanghai residents, meanwhile, live and work in the many residential and office high-rises. While much of Shanghai stays busy late into the night, this really is an area that never sleeps with glitzy nightclubs keeping people up until the wee hours of the morning.
