Stayed here as part of a Gate 1 tour in China. Hotel is rated four stars but certainly didn't seem like a four star property. The first impression is not good as the hotel entrance is next door to an old shabby apartment building. The lobby is rather plain. The hallways and rooms are a little dark - better lighting... This was the last hotel we stayed in while visiting China and it was probably our least favorite. The rooms were dated and the lobby was dated and dark as well. The rooms were nice and clean and the staff was friendly as well. We had just stayed a nicer hotel prior so this one just didn't quite measure up.... More

We had 3 nights here as part of a small group trip round China. It has a pretty grand entrance (if a bit bare - a few more chairs would be a good idea) but despite having smoking and none smoking floors, my main problem with the place was the constant faint smell of cigarette smoke. My room was clean... More

We stayed at this hotel as part of a tour. The room was average size, not large but plenty adequate for us. It was clean with a bathroom with both shower and tub. The breakfast featured a good variety of American and Chinese food. The only issues we had with the hotel was a limited seating during a busy breakfast... More

Because this city is more expensive in general, it was a good place overall. The rooms were a decent size and the bathroom had both a shower and a bathtub. The shower leaked and the water temp was inconsistent. Was on the 19th floor so I am not sure if that is the same across the hotel. The location was... More

I was in Shanghai on a Business trip and this hotel was selected as convenient to the office. Reception was efficient and the English was good. Check-in went without issues and payments and changes were efficiently handled. The room was quiet, large and well appointed with bar fridge and work desk. Housekeeping was efficient and very helpful. The breakfast was... More

I thought this hotel was very nice. The rooms are extremely small but we just sleep there so we did not care. The hotel was very nice and clean and the staff was very nice and helpful. They have some cute little shops in the hotel but I wouldn't buy as you can find much better deals. The wi fi... More

We stayed one night here and found the staff were only too willing to help. The bed was a little hard for us, so they very happily put a softer mattress on for us. The Dinning Room where we ate had everything to suit even the fussiest of eaters.

We stayed at the Rendezvous Merry Hotel before and after a cruise. The hotel itself is adequate. Breakfast plentiful, mini bar held enough for our needs . The staff were friendly and helpful but only to the point of doing 'enough' but no more. We'd probably happily return for a one night stay, but wouldn't base a holiday from there.

STAY DETAILS March 29 – April 1, 2015 Room 1207 – double room I can not recommend the Rendezvous Merry Hotel based on the bad customer service and the bed we had that had barely any cushion on top of the springs. Hotel is a place to snooze in. If the bed is that bad that you could barely get... More

Staying in Jing'an

Neighborhood Profile
Jing'an
The heart of this neighborhood is the Jing'an Temple, while the main artery of excitement and entertainment is West Nanjing Road. Close to the Former French Concession, the area has a similar draw for foreign residents but displays a more commercial character. Large, flashy malls, luxe residential high-rises and trendy nightlife areas can be found along West Nanjing Road, but areas off the busy street have the same quiet cafes and independent boutiques that many people think of as distinctive of the Former French Concession. Jing'an is less encased in amber, though, and it's possible to immerse yourself more fully in the energy of China's most bustling metropolis here.
