Near the subway station it takes 5 minutes on foot. On the way there are market, so walking way is always crowded. Wide room and slight old, but big LCD TV in the room and WIFI is available. Price is reasonable for business using. There is no money exchange on the front desk. Breakfast is included and soso. The hotel... More

The hotel felt cheap, ugly and unmodernised. The interior had lost some paint and it felt unhygienic. The hotel has about 13-16 floors, but only 2 elevators. So you can imagine how long it took to get up and down! It was only Chinese food at the breakfast, such as rice, some fruits and vegetables, some weird sausage, white toast... More

The only advantage of this hotel was cheap with great location. Metro stations nearby, since we're group of four so taxi to all the hot spots which's around RMB$20. Mattress was collasped so can't sleep properly during out stay. Their gym located on the 3rd floor with three machines but all looks so old and dusty.(It was actually a normal... More

The Magnificent International Hotel is located conveniently between two metro stations, namely Lao Xi Min (2 street blocks from the hotel) and Da Shi Jie (3 street blocks). Without any luggage, you can reach either station in between 5 to 7 minutes. The room I stayed in was spacious even with a king-sized bed attached. The bed was comfortable and... More

We were disappointed with this hotel. It was supposed to be four star, but it didn't live up to that rating. The rooms smelt of smoke, the lift was slow, the beds very hard and breakfasts very poor. The one good thing was their downstairs lounge area. It was handy to some good reasonably priced restaurants and a 15 minute... More

Ok, so i'll keep this short. We stayed in the magnificent for 5 nights over the Chinese New Year holidays in February of this year, during a time when hotel prices very quickly inflate - especially those in a prime location such as the Magnificent. So from reading other's reviews of this place, it seems apparent that people are very... More

The hotel can be a little difficult to find if you follow the instructions from the Internet. However when you arrive the hotel is well equipped and the inclusive breakfast is very well received. The rooms are spacious and clean, with certain floors designated as non smoking. There are many local food outlets close by and the Shanghai metro is... More

First of all it has a good location for sightseeing. We spent only one night there during our short stay in Shanghai. Room is clean and large but furniture and equipment is rather old. I had no problem with comunication with stuff. The breakfast was interesting :) there were more chinese food then continental. Hotel is close to the metro,... More

The bed sheets hadn't been changed, simply remade, disgusting. The bed was like laying on a board - hardest bed i've ever laid in ever in my life. The toilet didn't work. Requested more pillows, they brought up an iron. That was funny.

Stayed in this hotel for the second time after one year. Went to Shanghai again on a holiday to have some fun in this amazing city. The place combines good location with quite cheap price for Shanghai standards. It is 5 minutes walking from the nearest subway station. Also it is within walking distance of Nanjing Lu (~10-15min). The rooms... More

Staying in Xintiandi

Neighborhood Profile
Xintiandi
The refurbishment of a block of old shikumen into a carless entertainment center called Xintiandi, filled with restaurants, shops and bars, turned this area below South Huangpi Road into one of Shanghai’s most fashionable areas. Luxe condos house people who can afford the high-end brands that fill the malls and shops along Madang Road. The pleasant Taipinghu Park provides the area with green space and is also home to Shanghai Fashion Week twice a year. It’s not all glitter and glamour, though, as the rise of Danshui Road has given the Xintiandi area a shot of toned-down character. Small bars and cafes, mostly owned by locals, have people hanging out in a formerly quiet, unassuming part of the neighborhood.
