The staff are friendly. You got a space, nice view with a touch of classy accommodation! Great location, walking distance to " The Bund". The Italian Ice Cream in the cafe inside the hotel is very good! But excellent for the lime flavor ice cream, I recommend it!

We stayed here for five nights and were most impressed by the historic significance of the hotel. Also, its location was the perfect starting point for walking tours of the Bund, Nanjing Road, Fang Bang district, the IFC and the French Concession. The hotel itself is a repository of artifacts associated with the rise of the city as a financial... More

We had a great time at the Astor House Hotel. I knew it was historic, but I was really impressed with both the preservation of the hotel as well as the information about its history that is peppered throughout. We had a nice time walking around and checking out the old photos and plaques. Our room was pleasant, clean and... More

One of the most memorable hotels I have stayed anywhere. It's like taking at trip back in time. Huge, stately rooms totally in original condition. So much history around you which is unique in modern Shanghai. Great location just off the Bund and far more interesting to stay at than your standard modern hotel. Stay somewhere different, you won't regret... More

There's nothing wrong with hotel. It is clean (rooms are checked at least twice a day). Service is fine. The location is nice (close to Bund landmarks, 10-15min walk from shops and restaurants) Connection to public transport is ok (15min walk from nearest Metro)) And most of all: the hotel breaths history. The wooden floors are still intact, old elements... More

A hotel with interesting architectural features, informative historical photographic wall displays and period furniture. The room was very large, clean and comfortable and had a unique bathroom with a large window overlooking the bedroom! Fascinated by the fax machine in the room! We didn't eat in the hotel but did sample beer, tea and coffee in the lobby coffee shop.... More

Well-situated near the Bund with clean , well-furnished rooms and exceptionally friendly and helpful staff . I will certainly stay at this hotel if I ever return to Shanghai , despite the exhorbitant cost of coffee . We had two excellent meals in the restaurant , improved by bottles of the cheaper of the two French red wines on offer... More

Staying at the Astor House is an experience itself. With such former guests as President Grant, Charlie Chaplin and Albert Einstein, it's really full of history (I stayed a couple doors down from Scott Joplin's room). The 1st~3rd floor rooms have very interesting placards and photos of the hotel's glory days. The Peacock Room is a very pleasant place to... More

Our family of 4 adults stayed here in January. It was easy to walk out of the hotel and be in either the posh shopping areas, the bund or the local streets with shops selling live fish. Our rooms, 25 and 26 were well appointed and quiet, no views but we weren't concerned about that. There was a kettle in... More

We spent a week on this nice city, enjoyed the end of the 2014 and start of 2015 while staying on this hotel. Great, comfortable rooms, food was great, the staff very friendly and helpful and the actual location of the Hotel is a plus if you want to enjoy the Bund and see the new side across the river...
