The Central Hotel is a good business hotel with good, clean rooms, attentive staff and a good concierge's desk. Where it scores well above average is in location: it is one street away from the major shopping street of East Nanjing Road, very close to People's Square and the museums there, a short walk from the Bund, and a very... Central Hotel is a nice hotel located centrally in Shanghai, 1 street down of de pedestrianized section of Nanjing East Rd. The location is great. Close to two metro stations (People's Square and East Nanjing Road), and right in the center of things. We covered a lot of attractions by foot (e.g the Bund, old-town, yujuan garden), and for others... More

This is a fine hotel located very centrally just off the pedestrianized section Nanjin Road (E). It is close to East Nanjing Road Metro station (Line 2), 5 minutes walk to Peoples Square and 10 min. walk to The Bund. An ideal location for sightseeing and the Metro for further afield. The hotel is quite grand, our room on the... More

Another good recommendation from ta. Very good location, short walk to the bund, and right behind a busy pedestrian Street where a lot of Chinese seem to hang out at night. The staff was friendly, and they had no problem with me getting my train tickets shipped here. I forgot to ask them, but as soon as I checked in... More

As its name implies, the Central Hotel is pretty central to a good amount of the action in the center of Shanghai. It sits just off the section of Nanjing Road East that is pedestrian only, with lots of shopping and eating options very close by, and also just a couple of blocks from the Nanjing East subway station, which... High quality hotel, so well located for exploring Shanghai on foot. Short walk to Nanjing Rd and a little further to The Bund. Rooms large and clean, plenty of options at the breakfast buffet in a large, well managed dining room. No problems with in-room WiFi for me.

Upon entrance, a doorman opens the door for you and takes your luggage while you check in. Your luggage is delivered to your room so you don't have to carry it around. We were there early, so we waited an hour at the business center and just surfed the Internet and did some work. The lobby was nicely decorated and... More

Beautiful rooms done in a modern retro decor.Service is polite and professional. No language barriers. We enjoyed our two night stay very much and would definitely stay here again. This property is 15 minutes from the Bund..beautiful at night. Beware of unlicensed taxis..They all hustle you to death...especially if you come from Beijing to Shanghai by high speed rail (great trip ) at... More

This is 4 stars for the room and 3 stars for everything else. I was a little wary of this hotel as I was concerned it would be tired. Our rooms were lovely, clean, and updated. The location is convenient for a tourist though a bit of a walk to the subway. There is plenty of English spoken. Breakfast was... More

I arrived at Central Hotel after a particularly rough trip, and Central Hotel was all I could have asked for. The front-desk staff was professional and pleasant, and although I arrived early, quickly had me checked into a spacious room (bedroom, plus separate work area) with floor-to-ceiling windows. A small thing, but after three weeks on typically hard, flat mattresses,... More
