Good location in people's square, close to the bund and walkable to the metro, but honestly, nothing great inside the hotel. The rooms are old fashioned looking and not greatly maintained. The staff both at the registration desk and the bar are not well trained, don't understand foreigners' preferences, and don't have much training in the way of manners and... More

As many have said before the location is key to choosing this hotel, but the staff are not trained well enough to make you feel welcomed. Its not as good as its made out to be.There are much better ones to choose from.

I returned to this hotel in March 2014. My last stay was in 2009. I was traveling with students on both occasions, and one reason we chose this hotel was its closeness to pedestrian streets and the center of the city. After 5 years, I was greeted by the hotel staff by name. Nothing had changed. They were very efficient... More

We found a deal at the hotel that we couldn't resist and booked a 5 night stay for our Shanghai vacation. The location is perfect, the hotel is situated right next to the Nanjing pedestrian street with just a few minutes walk to two different metro stops. The Bund is a 10 minute walk away. We stayed in a nice... More

We chose this hotel on the advice of a Chinese friend who travels to Shanghai a lot. Couldn't be happier - fabulous room, delicious breakfast buffet, terrific location, great rate. But the most notable feature is the service. As an example - on my birthday, the manager Erik Rufer sent a delicious cake to our room (he must have spotted... More

Travelled to Shanghai during Chinese New Year in February with family. Taken the offer without breakfast as we wanted to enjoy the local food. Happy with the choice as there are plenty of eatery around! Nanjing East Road is just across the road & the subway is nearby. Would recommend to others.

Just remember to book way in advance to get the best rates online. We opted for superior room with 3 single beds, no breakfast and were happy with choice. Breakfast at about US$18 per head is reasonable enough but only steps away are nice restaurants and fastfood places to cater to varied taste. Hotel lobby impressive and neat, fresh flowers... More

We booked this hotel because of the good reviews and the excellent location. We weren't disappointed. The rooms were spacious and clean with cable tv and wifi. Perfect for relaxing after a hectic day exploring in Shanghai. The pool and gym were very well equipped and also very lovely. Great location right on the shopping mall. 1km walk to most... More
