The hotel is located in the French concession of Shanghai. Although it is an older hotel, it was very clean and the service was excellent. The breakfast buffet was plentiful with many different offerings including Asian, European and American. There are many lovely restaurants and cafes in the area, so there was never a doubt that we would find a... More

I got an upgraded room, so I was lucky...really nice suite with a great bath/shower. Modern building...great food in the restaurant (compared to most Chinese restaurants), good wine. Great transition back into American/Western life, for me...after a week in Northern China.

Stayed here a couple of times. The hotel is very relatable in accommodations and amenities the executive lounge is very good for breakfast and has a very nice view. The gym is adequate for work outs while traveling. Beds are comfortable and the AC works well enough to cool the room down and keep you comfortable.

I booked the hotel on priceline and the price is much lower than directly book through Chinese hotel websites. The room is not big, but very clean and the bed is very comfortable. I want a king size bed but unfortunately only 2 queen bed room is available, but the staff give me a room at high level. The view... More

I booked a trip to Shanghai when learning that my friend had a plan to visit this sophisticated city for one week on a business trip. As I have never been to China before, this is such a perfect timing and also a good excuse to pack my suitcase again. After checking all of my hotel loyalty program cards I... More

I used to think that this hotel chain was a safe bet...especially if you went to a place far away from home. But with so many other better hotels out there, I don't think I will bother with the Hilton again. One thing that I can say about this place is that it is just too pricey for what you... More

I was here for a week doing business in Shanghai (actually in the neighboring Shanghai Wheelock Square skyscraper, very convenient). Hilton Shanghai is a real business hotel, big, spacious and with all necessary facilties. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I went a couple off times to the gym, spa and also had some nice swedish massage (recommended!) Even... More

Spent two weeks at the Shanghai Hilton in November of 2014 for business. The hotel is the oldest "western" hotel in Shanghai, but it has plenty of modern touches. The service is excellent. This is one of the main highlights of the hotel. Suggest you try the xiao long bao the hotel kitchen prepares. It's one of the better XLB... More

We were delayed one night due to Super Tsunami. Hotel reps tried to convert lost night costs into a "service package" including room wi fi and breakfasts for 2. As I was sole room occupant, this was a massive overcharge for me. They would not provide a cost break down and I refused the "deal". Still no refund on my... More

I'm not sure of how in this day and age, a hotel can still get 5 stars if wifi is not provided for free. They provide free wifi if you sign up for free to become a member. If you have no intention of giving out your email and subsequently getting spammed though, afraid wifi was not included the premium... More

Staying in Jing'an

Neighborhood Profile
Jing'an
The heart of this neighborhood is the Jing'an Temple, while the main artery of excitement and entertainment is West Nanjing Road. Close to the Former French Concession, the area has a similar draw for foreign residents but displays a more commercial character. Large, flashy malls, luxe residential high-rises and trendy nightlife areas can be found along West Nanjing Road, but areas off the busy street have the same quiet cafes and independent boutiques that many people think of as distinctive of the Former French Concession. Jing'an is less encased in amber, though, and it's possible to immerse yourself more fully in the energy of China's most bustling metropolis here.
