I stayed here for just under two weeks in November, and switched rooms a few times. I'm giving this hotel a very good rating because of its price and location. Laoximen subway station is only a minute or two away. Xintiandi is only a 10-15 minute walk away. You can even walk to The Bund in 25 minutes or so... More

This hotel could be described quite as a good catch. The location is great, near every sight in Shanghai (you could even walk to Xiantiandi or Yuyuan Gardens) and in a lively chinese neighborhood full of shops and street food. The price for a double room with a/c and working WiFi is one of the cheapest you can find in... More

This is a decent hotel. It's not very nice but it's really cheap, so you get what you pay for. There was damage to the floor and walls in my room. It was quite clean. The location is quite central, and close to the metro. There are street food stands close by that are open late.

We stayed at this hotel for 9 nights. The hotel is 2-3 minutes away from the metro in a very central part of Shanghai. The hotel itself, though not the most well maintained, was relatively clean and the roomsize was fine considering the cheap price. The walls were thin so you could hear both your neighbours and street noises -... More

We stayed here for a week in July. The hostel is located right in heart of a China town market. When you step out the door there are people selling anything and everything. Some of the fish stalls can really go against your stomach early in the morning. It is about a ten minute walk the Xintiandi. This is a... More

The best about this hotel is it's location. It is located in a local streets, next to a big fruits shop and surround by many noodle shops and daily shops. You can even walk to XinTianDi for about 15min. I booked a budget single room for 2days. Room equipped with basic amnenities (bath gel, hairdryer, towel, kettle). For ladies traveller,... More

You get what you pay for, which in this case was cigarette smoke coming through the AC, hairs in the bathroom, and flies for roommates. There was a fourth-floor bar located directly outside my room, which was cause for noise during the night. Do not trust the pictures. Would not come back.

Don't be misled by the name - this is a hostel and not a hotel. Cheap accommodation and great location in the middle of a traditional chinese neighborhood (shops, market, food stalls) but just ten minutes walk from posh and Westernized Xintiandi. My room was very, very basic with a strong smell of smoke and not very clean and every... More

The price of this hotel was so good, and the location was better, it's near of the metro and supermarkets and you live for some days in a real chinese neighbourhood. The room had everything we needed, the a/c worked perfectly and the room has an european bathroom with a door.

Staying in Xintiandi

Neighborhood Profile
Xintiandi
The refurbishment of a block of old shikumen into a carless entertainment center called Xintiandi, filled with restaurants, shops and bars, turned this area below South Huangpi Road into one of Shanghai’s most fashionable areas. Luxe condos house people who can afford the high-end brands that fill the malls and shops along Madang Road. The pleasant Taipinghu Park provides the area with green space and is also home to Shanghai Fashion Week twice a year. It’s not all glitter and glamour, though, as the rise of Danshui Road has given the Xintiandi area a shot of toned-down character. Small bars and cafes, mostly owned by locals, have people hanging out in a formerly quiet, unassuming part of the neighborhood.
