Very good hostel with easy facilities. Employees are very kind and helpful. Inn is well placed. We spent very good time there. Rooms are clean and it's same for showers and others. There is also reversible air-conditionner.

I booked a private room (1 bed, private bathroom) about 3 months before the actual check-in date. The room was insanely small, just barely big enough for the bed and one luggage case. There was no soap or anything else equipped in the room which was definitely a disappointment. However, the lobby was very cozy besides the constant cold drafts... More

It's taken me a long time to get around to writing this review but that's not because it wasn't brilliant, just that I'm lazy. Rock & Wood is a pretty perfect hostel. We had a private room, it was quiet, it had a great super comfortable bed and a really nice shower room. This was the first place we stayed... More

I've stayed in this hostel at september 2015 for 5 days in the deluxe private bedroom. The room was really beautiful and the shower was great. The wifi always worked in our room and in the bar. The staff was very helpful with everything we needed. I don't have even one bad thing to say about this hostel. This hostel... More

I booked a twin-bed room (with a real window) for myself but when I arrived the receiption told me they don't have that room any more, instead they gave me a room with king bed but... More

We really liked the common room, it was comfortable and the food and drink on offer were cheaper than what we thought. Close to a metro station. The staff arranged a taxi collection for us to the airport - although we paid more for that then we did arriving from the airport in a taxi. The negative point we have... More

Nice, clean rooms, friendly and accommodating staff, and decent location! The coffee at the restaurant downstairs is excellent - probably the best we had in China - and a pretty cheap. There are no elevators so ask for a room on a lower level.

We have been several times in Rock & Wood and always book the double rooms in the courtyard. Staff speaks English very well, they are friendly and helpful. The central room is comfortable and they have a good breakfast menu. It is a short walk to the metro station but for us it is fine.

It's very far from the city centre, even the nearest metro station is 10-15 minutes walk. The rooms are pretty basic and there is no breakfast The staff was friendly and helpful, the bar is great and is a good place to meet new people The price is good

Staying in Zhongshan Park

Neighborhood Profile
Zhongshan Park
The residential and commercial areas around the beautiful grounds of Zhongshan Park have never been considered particularly fashionable by a majority of Shanghai’s foreign residents, but plenty of expats do choose to live here. The park itself is a huge draw, providing a pocket of serenity in the middle of the metropolis. The area has its share of trendy shops with wares that can’t be found elsewhere, delicious restaurants with food ranging from fancy to affordable, and great hidden bars. Rents are also cheaper here than in other neighborhoods with the same conveniences. Aside from the obvious attractions, with its neighborhood fix-anything shops and pop-up street stalls that sell anything you need, you’ll never sacrifice Western comforts.
