This felt like one of the better hostels in Shanghai. I visited at a really quiet time, but the atmosphere still seemed pretty friendly. Having said that the staff were a bit standoffish and didn't give any recommendations. The kitchen and bar was good and both were cheap and did both Chinese and western snacks. The rooms were clean but... More

Location: Close to Metro station In the center, close to many tourists point Nice and cheap restaurants nearby Room & Toilet Booked Deluxe room and we checked in early, they offered family room. Room is clean but since no window, the smell is a bit not very good. Toilet is all-open one, gotta be careful taking shower Staff: Nice and... More

This is one of the coolest hostels I've ever stayed in. Clean, great location, helpful staff, and a great place to meet people. They have a bar and movies playing in the lobby in the evening. I was also so grateful for some muesli for breakfast at a good price after so much Chinese food all the time... I would... More

The place is not the best of the world but it's really good though. It's a funny and wonderful space to meet other people and have a good time. There are a guitar, a pool table, a bar, many stuff just to enjoy. Great place with excellent location to meet new people and travel.

Blue Mountain hostel's best asset is its location--you can walk to a lot of nearby sights (the Bund, People's Square, Nanjing Rd, Yu Gardens) and it's surrounded by excellent food. Explore the smaller streets around the hostel and find some local markets and vendors selling delicious street food for a fraction of the price of most restaurants. The hostel's atmosphere... More

We stayed in a double room, neat, clean and towels/sheets changed when you ask rather then every day, great idea! Lobby area really cozy with a lounge, heating and TV/movies playing nearly every night, feels like home. Fantastic location and very well priced too. Staff speak English.

This is by far the cheapest place near The Bund. Not the Glamour, not the crowd, not the comfort, but also not the price to break the bank. Expect mostly Chinese people in the hostel. Just go here for sleep and have fun outside!!

Budget accommodation in Shanghai is a little harder to come by than other parts of China. Blue Mountain Bund was reasonable and good value, particularly due to it's ideal location. It is very central; only 5 minutes walk from the nearest metro and a 15 minute walk to the Bund. The hostel itself is in a high rise building and... More

Out of all the places I stayed in China (Beijing, Huang Shan, Xidi), this hostel had the most international feel. There were many people in the common areas socializing. I talked to a guy whose Dota team had just one second place in a competition. There was a bar in the hostel which was nice as well. The room I... More

The hostel is very well locate, walking distance to Bund and "Times square". We stayed in a deluxe double room. It has a great balcony and a very big couples bed. But the cleanliness is very poor. You have to ask so they clean your room (it is not enough to put the sign on the door). And they do... More

Staying in People’s Square

Neighborhood Profile
People’s Square
People’s Square brings with it all the excitement you would expect from the town square of one of the biggest cities in the world. The area around People’s Square and People’s Park is always a abuzz with activity. Oceans of local and foreign tourists flow in and out of the area every day to see grand museums, go shopping and eat at some of Shanghai’s most storied food centers. Shanghai residents, meanwhile, live and work in the many residential and office high-rises. While much of Shanghai stays busy late into the night, this really is an area that never sleeps with glitzy nightclubs keeping people up until the wee hours of the morning.
