The hotel is located less than 3 min walk to yuyuan mtr. The hotel room is below the average, room lights are very dim and seems run down. Doesn't feel vrry clean though but bearable to stay for 2'nights. Its a hotel that has hourly rate, i'm sure u get it

The main advantage to this hotel is the location: it's almost ridiculously close to the Bund (5 min) and the YuYuan Gardens Metro stop (2 min). However, it's also right next to a quite busy street which might bother those who are light sleepers. The rooms were clean and the shower had good pressure. We managed to block the toilet... More

En route from Melbourne to Toronto, we found ourselves with a 17-hour layover in Shanghai, from 7pm until noon the next day. I was looking for a hotel we could do a nice walking tour of a small portion of Shanghai, and grab a few hours sleep in between. I could have done much worse. Upon arrival, we took the... More

I decided to give this hotel a try because of its close proximity to the Yuyuan metro station (Exit 4, cross the busy Renmin Road and there you are, almost). However, it is really not up to snuff as a "business hotel". More like a budget hotel. The rooms are very small even the "business class" ones. Either that or... More

Like most other reviewer commented, this is consider a budget hotel, but with superb location. I would recommend it if you are on a budget. I reached Shanghai around 9pm and took a LINE 10 MRT to Yuyuan Station. The Hotel is located only 3 minutes walking distance from the MRT Station (Exit 4). [Note: You can get a MRT... More

If you are expecting a 5 star hotel - go to one. This is not a 5 star hotel but a pretty good hotel for what it is and what they charge. I had no problem with the place. I had a single room. Yes, a bit small but it's mostly just a place to sleep and wash. You are... More

The location of the place is great, just a short walk from Yunan metro (line 10, straight from Hongqiao railway station). 10 minutes to the bund and 15 to east naning road. The hotel itself is in need of updating, there's a strange smell throughout but if you're on a budget and want something central it's not that bad. I... More

Stayed here for 2 nights in July 2014 with a friend and the only thing you can get by staying in this hotel is Location. thats about it. tourism spots are in walking distance : Yu garden, the Bund, Nanjing Road ( too close to get there by car or taxi, but yet it was also quite a long walk!... Cosy, older hotel that is a bit worn. Small but clean, comfortable room with compact, functional bathroom. Excellent location close to the subway station and a 10 minute walk to the Bund. Helpful staff and reasonable wifi. Our room overlooked a busy road but noise was not a problem. This review ignores one singular, discordant issue; discoloured caulking at the... More

I chose this hotel since it was a bit inexpensive compared with other hotels in Shanghai. Of course, that meant sacrificing other services and comforts that goes with a higher price. One main selling point of the hotel for me was the location. It was near major tourist spots and a short walk to the Yu Yuan Metro Station. There... More

Staying in People’s Square

Neighborhood Profile
People’s Square
People’s Square brings with it all the excitement you would expect from the town square of one of the biggest cities in the world. The area around People’s Square and People’s Park is always a abuzz with activity. Oceans of local and foreign tourists flow in and out of the area every day to see grand museums, go shopping and eat at some of Shanghai’s most storied food centers. Shanghai residents, meanwhile, live and work in the many residential and office high-rises. While much of Shanghai stays busy late into the night, this really is an area that never sleeps with glitzy nightclubs keeping people up until the wee hours of the morning.
