I stayed here twice, once over Western New Year 2012-13 and again in October 2013, both times for 3 nights. Both times I chose the hotel for its location and that is what makes me rate it "very good". It is not really situated on the bund. But it is only about less than 5min to walk there. It is... More

Hard to find a better location to the Bund, and French Concession. However, the place is atrocious. Dirty rooms, no hot water, shower had no pressure, sink worked occasionally. Very loud as well, as the room we were given was put beside the housekeepers area and they were up 24/7. The door to the stairwell was also left open every... More

We made a booking thru Agoda and we expected a lil bit more. The hotel is dirty and our room was a mess and with a wet floor upon checking in. When we tried to use our sink for wash up it seemed like the floor was flooded due to leak. Towels are a bit smelly. frontdesk staff are snobbish... More

Positives: Only 8mins walk to East Nanjing Subway. Very close to many tourist areas. Many restaurants and supermarkets nearby (24 hrs Family mart nearby is very useful). English speaking receptionists Very good value Room Interiors recently done and contemporary Negatives: Very small rooms. Those located inside row lack outside view. Only suitable for single occupancy. Very noisy guests on the... More

The room is nicely decorated, PC supplied in the room. Shower is big & clean, the bed is a queen. Don't take bags as there is no room for them. The staff are polite, nice & friendly (and cute ;-)). The location is good. There is a train station close by, which is handy as it is quite a way... More

I am usually not a fan of chain hotels but decided to give a series of Chinese chains a shot simply for novelty - this one attracted me because of the price and also the black interiors that looked potentially chic and 'boutique'. Counter staff were relatively friendly upon arrival. Despite the comment I left when booking to say "no... More

Normally never ever bother writing reviews of places as figure its one off bad experience and I wouldn't want to ruin reputation of a place purely because I had a bad experience but.... Worst hotel I have ever stayed in, this includes some dumps in third world countries. We had booked 2 kind size rooms for 4 night. On arrival... More

Read the review on this site prior to booking the hotel. There were varied mixed reviews and the hotel rating wasn't too high among Shanghai hotels. However, given that FX hotel is related to the Furama group, which is a Singapore chain, I decided to give it a try. In fact, it is also very well located. 2 blocks from... More

Staying in People’s Square

Neighborhood Profile
People’s Square
People’s Square brings with it all the excitement you would expect from the town square of one of the biggest cities in the world. The area around People’s Square and People’s Park is always a abuzz with activity. Oceans of local and foreign tourists flow in and out of the area every day to see grand museums, go shopping and eat at some of Shanghai’s most storied food centers. Shanghai residents, meanwhile, live and work in the many residential and office high-rises. While much of Shanghai stays busy late into the night, this really is an area that never sleeps with glitzy nightclubs keeping people up until the wee hours of the morning.
