THE PLACE. Modern, fresh, we had a room premier with special veiw (on the corner) at 26 floor. It was amazing. I could stay hour just looking outside of the windows... The terrace, one of the best in town. The pool overlooking the bund: I was alone in this dream. The staff was 5stars and friendly, not cold at all.... More

This was my 3rd stay at the Indigo and it just keeps getting better. This is a terrific choice in Shanghai. For one, it's right on The Bud and the views from the river-view rooms are mesmerizing. It is also close to most of the places you'll want to explore while in Shanghai as most (Yuan Gardens, museums, Pearl Tower,... More

It's not often a hotel blows me over. I love this hotel. It's not just stylish, it is beautifully thought out. From the cool jazz funk background music to the absence of clutter in the lobby to the rubber duck in the free standing bath in the wet room, you keep being impressed by little touches. The views from the... More

The Hotel Indigo is perfectly located at the end of the Bund. If you get a room with river view, you will not switch on the TV because the view of the room is unbelivable. Reception staff is very freindly, especially Joey, ask him and you will get it. The room is perfect and especially the bath tube with Skyline... More

If I recommend anyone a hotel close to the Bund then this is it. A hotel that is cosy, charming exclusive enough to feel like home. Great roof bar to enjoy the city lights and views. Only negatives are, it's a bit out of the 'centre' but take a cheap taxi and you'll be fine. It's location makes it quiet... More

We stayed at hotel indigo Shanghai during new year and we truly enjoyed our stay! We had a corner room with the view of the Bund and the river! The room is tastefully decorated with old Shanghai accent but with modern amenities! The breakfast is really good and has a quite a few of both western and eastern selections but... More

Pros: - Trendy hotel with nice rooms - Attentative and friendly reception staff - Nice 'bund' view especially from the roof-top bar Cons: - Room was a bit smelly and not super clear (maybe an isolated case...) - Arrogant, unprofessional staff at the roof-top bar and no 'priortiy' access for hotel guests. Even a some loung seats were neither occupied... More

Once again Hotel Indigo exceeds my expectations. What a fabulous boutique hotel. Safe. It's not cheap. Cost was 8000 RMB/$1,200 for 3 nights. Had New Years Eve at the Char restaurant. Way over priced! View was great. Toilet seat was heated. Very clean. Bar - run away. View is outstanding but 1 Coke and 1 bottle water ¥358/$55.03... Outrageous. Staff... More

I stayed at the Indigo on the Bund for a short one night stay and I really enjoyed it. It was not a huge luxurious hotel but more of a boutqiue chic hotel with stylish furnishings. The rooms were decently spacious and I liked the traditional yet modern furnishings in the room. Amenities were adequate and most things you would... More

Staying in South Bund

Neighborhood Profile
South Bund
This waterfront area below the most famous section of the Huangpu River has undergone multiple phases of development that started when the Waterhouse Hotel opened its doors. Though it’s been slower to catch on than people expected, every year something new and exciting opens up and gives people a reason to keep calling the South Bund the "Next Big Thing." There are a couple of landmark hotels and restaurants of excellent quality that serve as anchors, and multiple annual events such as beer festivals, art and fashion fairs and music shows take advantage of the wide spaces, waterfront location and the tiny man-made beach to host huge crowds of people. Wandering about the newness, one can stumble upon authentic Chinese life in the stone gates of people’s residences or the street markets.
