A really delightful hotel, right on the Bund overlooking the river. Self-consciously stylish and edgy, but the standard necessities of any good hotel - service and fine food - are all there too. The room was delightful and a welcome change from the standard hotel room layout, with all sorts of fun details and a huge walk-in shower with a... More

I stayed hear using points but they still provided a room with a view of the river. It was not the premium view of the Bund area but it was still a nice view of the river towards the Nanpu bridge. I was staying using points so I actually did not have any great expectations. The room is in keeping... More

The hotel is definitely in a good location - as its name says, it is on the Bund - but the vincinity is not great as there is a big construction site next to it. Overall service is OK but not excellent. Many staff at the lobby speak a limited English and they often look completely overwhelmed. The hotel lacks... More

What did you like? Location and view. The hotel is very artsy and well design. Feels very unique and lovely ambiance. Some staff very lovely and went out of way to help get us nappies and provide fresh baby food to room service. The rooftop restaurant and bar was a touch attribute. What didn't you like? Most Staff did not... More

Wow, this is the best boutique hotel that I have stayed in. It merges the art, architecture, interior design, edgy vibe and essential cool bar of a boutique hotel, with all the pro's of the larger style hotels such as a pool/gym/room service/large buffet breakfast. I’m quadriplegic and in a manual wheelchair so I had a list of questions that... More

Checkin was not the best, but the small attentions quickly made up for that. An ice cream bar, a few very good local cookies and we were on our way to a beautifully decorated room. What this hotel has to offer, however, is an absolutely amazing location. Waling the Bund (at night!) is a charm from there, as well as... More

Nice clean hotel with unique decor, good location, amazing rooftop bar views and pretty good steakhouse too (Char). Very modern and new, friendly staff. Language was sometimes a barrier but they were always eager to help. Check-in/check-out was very smooth.

I went last wekeend to indigo Char bar and all the service i experienced was poor cocktails without garnish the bartenders they dont have any passion and they seem me like they doing a favor to you when you order a drink. I sat for more than one time in different tables and all the time the waitress tell us... More

We thoroughly enjoyed out stay at this hotel. It's within minutes walk from the main bund area and the waterfront view is stellar. We got a special view room and loved the spaciousness. If we return to Shanghai, it'll certainly be at this hotel

I was in Shanghai early Sun, Mon, last week, flying to Xiamen Tues, Wed, returning back to Shanghai Thurs and Friday. On the advise of a fellow traveler I decided to give Hotel Indigo on the Bund a try. In fact I was so please with my experience I stayed at Indigo both time slots while in Shanghai. Service WAS... Staying in South Bund

Neighborhood Profile
South Bund
This waterfront area below the most famous section of the Huangpu River has undergone multiple phases of development that started when the Waterhouse Hotel opened its doors. Though it’s been slower to catch on than people expected, every year something new and exciting opens up and gives people a reason to keep calling the South Bund the "Next Big Thing." There are a couple of landmark hotels and restaurants of excellent quality that serve as anchors, and multiple annual events such as beer festivals, art and fashion fairs and music shows take advantage of the wide spaces, waterfront location and the tiny man-made beach to host huge crowds of people. Wandering about the newness, one can stumble upon authentic Chinese life in the stone gates of people’s residences or the street markets.
