We stayed here for 3 nights in a 2 bed double room. The location is great, walking distance to the Bund, People's Square and Nanjing Lu Shopping Street. There's a really delicious Shanxi restaurant in the base of the hostel with fairly cheap prices, and Yunnan Road itself is an eating street (with a really incredible Sheng Jian Bao place... More

Great stay, would recommend. My boyfriend and I spent 3 nights here as a layover from Toronto to Bangkok. This was a great option for us. Location: Less than 1 minute for DaShiJie metro stop. Walking distance to Shanghai Museum, the Bund, and other attractions we didn't have time to visit. Tons of restaurants right as you step outside. Room:... More

I came on my own to Shanghai and felt very safe and welcome at the Phoenix. The rooftop bar was great for a quiet evening in and it is a bonus having the restaurant downstairs. I was very pleasantly surprised with my room as it was modern and very clean. Great location too right near peoples square. Please be warned,... More

We stayed here as part of a tour. This is one of the nicest hostels we stayed at in terms of its smart facilities. But it still wasn't one of my favourites, I think because it lacked charm somehow. The staff were polite and helpful enough though a little distant and a bit disorganized (eg they gave me the key... More

We managed to convince the management to allow us to sleep 3 people in a twin room which was enough to be honest. The room was very newly decorated and clean with a nice very very very hot and powerful shower which was lovely. The food in the restaurant downstairs looks really good but we never ate there. There are... More

Great hostel if you are looking for a very central and clean place with good facilities. We stayed in a Deluxe Double Bed Private Ensuite. The room was very nice & clean and felt more like a hotel than a hostel. Comfortable king size bed, tv, towels etc provided. Only negative point is the toilet & shower which are see-through,... This is a excellent hostel in a very good location close to people's square. Lived in a private room that was both cheap and very nice. Restaurant downstairs was great. They had a roof-top bar with the most optimal setting for meeting fellow travellers with cheap bar, nice environment, friendly staff, movie nights etcetc. But only thing was, there were... More

Me and my husband spent 4 nights at this great hostel. We had a private room with an ensuite. It was clean and comfortable. The resturant down stairs was very nice and was cheap, even the beer! The roof top bar does great cocktails and is a great place to meet people, we met some guys and even went clubbing... More

Great location, only 1 minute from closest subway.Hostel rooms are great, very clean and modern. Staff speak basic English and aren't really willing to go above and beyond, bring a guide book as they have no maps in English.
