We were in Shanghai in September 2014. It was our first ever visit in P.R.China. We wanted to check-in in Minya Hotel and surprisingly it was only one person at the reception speaking English. After few attempt we finally got decent room. What makes us surprised when waiting at the reception – it was a flowers in the vase. Room... More

The first room we were given keys to did not have sheets on the bed or towels, so obviously the front desk found us another room that was ready for guests. If we had to stay with this room, this hotel would have received only 2 stars. It was extremely small and oddly laid out. (Column in middle of space,... More

At first the staff were not very helpful and as I was queuing to register at reception the local Chinese were cutting the queue and registering before myself and others who were patiently waiting. Even after we told the reception that we were first it seemed they were more afraid of the locals as they were very loud and shouting... More

This one is ok but gets a three for a few reasons - 1. Reception system was last used by Noah - long delays 2. Coffee shop is expensive 3. Once the floor staff get it into their head to disturb they go at it hammer and tongs 4. Restaurant is expensive. 5. Room maintenance is on the lite side... More

Hotel is about a $25 dollar (USD) taxi ride from Hongqiao Airport. Upon check-in, my co-worker and I were told that we needed to leave a 500 rmb deposit. Though it caught me off guard, it was fine. We then proceeded to the elevator where we had to insert our room key to get to our floor. However, both our... More

We (tour group of 78) stayed here in 2011, as we toured Shanghai and the surrounding area. Minya Hotel is a very nice hotel, staff was very pleasant, dining room was v. clean and large, breakfast (Chinese/American) was plentiful and tasty, bedrooms/bathrooms were clean and spacious. I definitely recommend and will stay at Minya Hotel again when I visit Shanghai.

Hotel facilities are generally good. Room clean and comfortable. Breakfast good but evening meals hopeless. The Verona, "Italian restaurant" , boasted spaghetti bolognese and tuna sandwich as the Europena options, everything else Chinese. Staff there have almost no English. Asked concierge for taxi to a place in writing, the Chinese translation he gave taxi driver was completely wrong. Worst problem... More

Great place, clean and large rooms. A little away from the closest Metro , but a 10 min walk should get you there. Being a vegetarian, the hotel went out of the way, to make me some dishes that suited me. Very freindly staff.

Although slightly out of the way, the hotel is extremely well equiped. Jacuzzi in the room, plus shower unit as well as a sauna steam room (which I did not try out). Light switches are back lit and are well labelled. TV stations have the usual foreign channels, CNN, CNBC, BBC, HBO etc. Rooms are of reasonable size, although my... More

Stayed at the hotel for 3 nights.
