By far, the nicest hotel I have ever stayed at in my life. The rooms were incredible, and the staff was amazing. A+, 5 stars - incredible. There is no question that this hotel ranks among the finest hotels in the world.

Great location but better property. Love this hotel with wonderful staff and great rooms. Wonderful restaurants on-site and fantastic facilities. Very convenient given proximity to the Bund (without being right on it). Lots of great restaurants and bars not far away. Consider this for business or pleasure, or both

Greeted by the Peninsula staff at the exit and escorted to the garage for the ride to the hotel. The Rolls Royce was an amazing ride, one feels like royalty, a signature car fleet for the Peninsula Hotels founded by the Kadoori family in Hong Kong. The group owns currently 10 hotels; I have the good fortune to have stayed... More

If you want to utterly impress the Shanghainese with your address, you stay at The Peninsula. Only The Waldorf Astoria and the Ruijin Intercontinental are in its league for historic hotels. Only The Puli, Langham, and Twelve at Hengshan feature competitive design elements. Only the Mandarin Oriental, Ritz Carlton, and Shangri-La have comparable service and professionalism. The Peninsula has much... More

We just popped in one evening for a drink in the bar. Staff were really welcoming and we were given great service. The view was lovely when the sky was clear. Delicious cocktails too. One of lots of great hotel bars we visited in Shanghai.

This was our first trip to Shanghai and first time in Peninsula Hotel. Besides all the luxury decors, lavish afternoon tea, in-room technology, amazing jazz band in the lobby, Peninsula's services go beyond hospitality, which set this Hotel apart from others including Ritz Carlton. The staff were excellent, Sunny Sun our hostess pay attention to all the details of our... More

A superb hotel in Shanghai. A world of luxury and calm. You will not be disappointed with your stay here. The staff are brilliant, and cannot do enough to help you. The rooms are beautifully appointed - if not absolutely up to date - and the bed was supremely comfortable. Highly recommended.

Staying in The Bund

Neighborhood Profile
The Bund
While there are certainly many other “bunds” in the world, “the Bund” refers to Shanghai’s famous waterfront. The area’s Gothic, Art Deco and Beaux Arts monoliths were built when it was part of the Shanghai International Settlement run by the British and Americans. The atmosphere of colonial-era luxury has endured over time and is now found in the five-star hotels, luxury brand boutiques and expensive restaurants that can be found within the historic buildings. A cultural center has built up away from the water and some of Shanghai’s best art galleries and museums are housed close to the Bund. Nighttime views of Pudong and the rest of the city also make for a great backdrop at the many rooftop clubs.
