This is quite a pleasant hotel in a good part of Shanghai. Staff are very helpful but not all speak English. Decor is nice. A tight squeeze up stairs if that is an issue for you. Unlike other reviewers I didn't like the breakfast, but I'm clearly in the minority. It was the most expensive hotel we stayed at in... more

We stayed for 4 nights at Quintet during one of Shanghai's rainiest periods, which added to the coziness and comfort that we enjoyed at Quintet. I echo the comments made by njttravelling earlier, and add that Quintet provides a personality and a personal level of thoughtful service that is unique to the most memorable B&B's in the world. The smallest... more

My siser and i stayed attic room at the quintet for 2 nights in september. The location was in a quiet area with metro stop a short (15min)walk away. The room was compact and small so sharing for more than a few nights might not suit everyone. We planned to be sleeping in the room and sightseeing so did not... more

I recently stayed for four nights in one of Quintet's five rooms. My whole stay in Shanghai was fantastic and Quintet was a big reason why. The information pack provided at check-in was detailed and exceptionally useful, especially to communicate with cab drivers. The location in the west end of the French Concession is close to great shopping, restaurants and... more

We received a high recommendation from a friend to stay at the Quintet in Shanghai and from the moment we inquired, the owner, Fay was beyond helpful responding to our emails and questions. She also checked on us via email during our journey to confirm our stay and the details. Shanghai was the last stop after a very long trip... more

I've always loved the idea of anything charmingly vintage and the Quintet B&B Shanghai is exactly that of an independent Boutique Hotel with the right touch of modern amenities. The cosy and unpretentious rustic cafe, Closed Doors, serves really good Mushroom Risotto with Truffle oil which is highly recommended. Breakfast is a sumptous affair and if you're feeling really lazy... more

Most of the rooms are nice, but stay away from the one on the top floor which is small and not nearly as nice. After switching rooms, we ended up with a room where the bathroom was up a flight of stairs, which was inconvenient. Howeve, the decor is very charming, the service excellent (Eva is extremely friendly and helpful),... more

My stay at the Quintet was great. The rooms were sophisticated with great bedding and all the accoutrements you'd would like. It was a pleasure to have a made to order breakfast in the cafe where you could chat with the other guests. Fay, the owner, is amazing - smart & very hepful. She made great recommendations and even helped... more

Kiwi999 is spot on in their review of this characterful B&B. I never met Fay, the owner, but she had been very helpful and responsive to requests prior to staying. The place has style and it felt like staying in someone’s home. Particularly for first time visitors, very useful printed information is given to guests on arrival, but other than... more

Just spent 4 nights at the Quintet and really enjoyed it. But be warned, this place is definitely not for the traveler who likes to be pampered. The rooms are up 1 or 2 flights of old wooden steps (depending on the room); you have to walk down a back alley and key yourself in a back door to get... more
