Had an extended stay here while sorting out some things in China. Hotel is big, excellent service and good location close to the Shanghai Stadium railway stop (5 min walk). Hotel breakfast is pretty good and the gym area was never crowded. I would stay here again if my travels brought me back to the area.

has lot of restaurants nearby to this one- so hotel's cafe is not missed. Rooms are clean and well-decorated; Reception is also helpful; Even though website and agoda claims it as non-smoking; it really isn't non-smoking- we can find cigarette butts near elevator sand-bin and also in room ash-tray! I agree with other travellers- room is odly decorated- one bed... More

Room is spacious with kitchenette, plenty of places to put your clothes etc. This makes a nice change from other hotels we have used in China. Breakfast is quite good but finding your way to breakfast can be a challenge on first morning. Free wifi which works well. Tip - google does not work well in China. Try www.baidu.com -... More

Trust me, if you are a westerner coming from out if the country, this is a great hotel. The location is very central, the facilities, staff, cleanliness, amenities, price, etc. were all great. I've heard of other people visiting China on business before and their hotels were in bad areas or in disrepair, I was so glad that I stayed... More

Mixed feelings. Looked good from outside, very nice building. Room is standard, WIFI is a bit tricky. The front office staffs English are not up to standard surprisingly. That inconvenience probably cause them to sound unfriendly to me. To be fair, there is one concierge staff whose English name is Harry whom I remember till now, that was really friendly... More

We stayed in this hotel as part of a group tour. When we arrived, the reception demanded that we pay deposit on our credit card . We didn't want to do this .They said that this is done by other hotels in China which is not true.Anyway our guide intervened and we didn't pay. When we reached the room we found the... More

Reading the review from my previous reviewer, "Holiday096", saved lots of my typing. My experience was just as bad. Plus, we didn't get moved to a queen bed room, so we had to stay on two seperate beds on opposite side of the room for 3 nights (we foolishly did a prepay via hotels.com) - we were promised a queen... I always enjoy writing positive comments about hotels and restaurants but, in this case, the only positive thing I can think of is that I am positive that if I am in Shanghai again I will not stay at the Ramada Plaza Gateway! The receptionist on arrival was unhelpful to the point of being aggresive, demanding that I lodge Y1000... More

Just a quick warning: if you are checking in late, there is no food available after 10 pm... The concierge kindly tried to find some for us, but no luck. The rooms however were super clean and comfortable in the "G tower." Overall, it's a Very nice hotel for China.
