We, a couple around 60 enjoyed the stay in Captain Youth Hotel. We had a big room for us two with good shower for 408 yuan (= about 60 Euro), we liked the young visitors and the Captains bar at the 6th floor with view over the Bund is beautiful, special in the evening, when the lights go on.

I stayed at the dorm on 4th floor. I think it is a bit expensive for a dorm, but this was the best price and location that I could find. The location is excellent, it is very near to the Bund. you can go there every night, which I did. there is a family mart right next to the hostel.... More

This Hostel is very near to the Bund, and still in walking distance to Nanjing Road and Yuyuan Garden which is the most favourite tourist spots in Shanghai. The Dorm Toilet is tipically a dry toilet, but unfortunately do not have tissues. So you must to have your own tissues or walk to clean your self in the bath room,... More

Stay there some years ago. Nothing special about this "international youth hostel": its like thousands of it through the world. Nice point is that you can meet a lot of people there and it's close to the Bind but it's a bit pricey for dorms bed.

The hostel is very near to The Bund area. Just a minute walk. However, it is quite a walk to the nearest subway, East Nanjing Road. It took us at least 15 minutes with heavy luggage to get to the hostel. Also, since we rely on public transport/subway for sight seeing, it is quite troublesome. The staff is ok. Can... More

Stayed one night in a private room on the top floor. The view in the room was crap but on the same Floor you will find the bar of the hostel. Here you will have an amazing view over the bund! The drinks on the other hand are way to expensive!! So dont go there for the drinks but just... More

The renowned roof-top Captain’s Bar, with one of Shanghai’s best views of the Pudong skyline, should be reason enough to stay in this hostel, but it’s kinda not. Open to the public (and more often than not, who’ll you find in it), it’s too expensive (50rmb small beer) for the types of guests who stay, to hang out (even if... More

Pros: 1. A minute walk to The Bund and viewing deck to see Oriental Pearl Tower. 2. Nearby Sichuan road where lots of cheap food vendor. You can also find Halal restaurant there. 3. Washing machine available. Prepare detergent and 5 coins of 1 rmb. Cons 1. Staffs are less friendly. 2. Not all staffs could speak English. Even though... More

I had stayed for just one night in this hotel. Its price is a real draw in a city like Shanghai. It is clean and convenient and near the city center. I didn't find anything wrong about it however I didn't stay long enough to decide on its merits (reason for my Average rating). It is open for 24 hours... More

We went to captain hostel and we were very surprised by the terrible service. Simple, nothing is proposed and you have to pay to use a towel and to go to the family part to buy toilet paper if you want to use the toilets. No smile, no kindness here and the basic notions of service are unknown in this... More
