The renowned roof-top Captain’s Bar, with one of Shanghai’s best views of the Pudong skyline, should be reason enough to stay in this hostel, but it’s kinda not. Open to the public (and more often than not, who’ll you find in it), it’s too expensive (50rmb small beer) for the types of guests who stay, to hang out (even if... More

Pros: 1. A minute walk to The Bund and viewing deck to see Oriental Pearl Tower. 2. Nearby Sichuan road where lots of cheap food vendor. You can also find Halal restaurant there. 3. Washing machine available. Prepare detergent and 5 coins of 1 rmb. Cons 1. Staffs are less friendly. 2. Not all staffs could speak English. Even though... More

I had stayed for just one night in this hotel. Its price is a real draw in a city like Shanghai. It is clean and convenient and near the city center. I didn't find anything wrong about it however I didn't stay long enough to decide on its merits (reason for my Average rating). It is open for 24 hours... More

We went to captain hostel and we were very surprised by the terrible service. Simple, nothing is proposed and you have to pay to use a towel and to go to the family part to buy toilet paper if you want to use the toilets. No smile, no kindness here and the basic notions of service are unknown in this... More

The hostel was clean and full of backpackers from all over. The location was near the city center but the road was pretty dirty. The best thing was the bar on the rooftop, shaped like a boat and with a breathtaking view. If you have some time to spend to make friend up there this is a great place to... More

Room on 6th floor, but lift only goes to the 5th. Lots of noise from the public bar on 6th floor until 2am. Food and drink very expensive, but view of the bund good. Staff not interested in customers, would describe them as rude. Room not very clean. Nearest metro 10 -15 minutes walk.

It's really near the malls, supermarkets and the Bund! Also the front desk guy can speak English, and the staff is very friendly. The rooms (individual and shared) are clean and quiet. You rather reserve the room one week before your trip, sometimes they're full.

It is located in the bund. Amazing views of the skyline from the roof top bar (very expensive for chinese standard). Wooden beautiful rooms. The location is superb! The nearest subway station is nanjing east that is just 10 minutes walking

The place is decent and who can complain for this space for less than 500 pesos ($11) per night. Its proximity to The Bund is also also a plus factor. If you are to take the subway heavily though (as we did) walking back and forth for approximately 10 minutes to the nearest station day after day could be a... More
