The Rayfont Downtown certainly provides an inexpensive place to stay at a great location in downtown Shanghai. And I also thought my room (#2312) was handsomely designed and appointed. Unfortunately a real lack of maintenance and an indifferent staff made me more and more disappointed with the hotel as my time there went by. In my room, the wood veneer... More

Very impressed with its big revolving door. Normally, I see revolving doors can accommodate 1 person per section but, in this hotel, the section is so big it can accommodate as many as 5 people. Meet several European guest in this hotel but not many Asians. Room is reasonable size, enough walking space, furnished with a writing table and chair.... More

The Rayfont is an amazing value in a city with high cost real estate. I stayed in one of the Deluxe Business Suites (really a 1 bed apartment) on the 25th floor for 5 days starting June 5th for about $63 a night through Expedia. Much better than a hotel room at the Hilton or Marriott at a fraction of... More

First of all, there was no Wi-Fi anywhere in the Hotel. If you need Wi-Fi, try the cafe beside the hotel. Next... (1) In my Room, the sink was clogged. Bummer and had to use the toilet bowl to brush my teeth. (2) There is only 1 key card, so careful about getting locked out. 100 Yuan fine for getting... More

I've been staying in this establishment from may 2 to 10 2014. I haven't had breakfast there and can only comment my room, the geo location and the service: I think this hotel is good value if on's looking for a good value for money middle-class hotel. The geo location is very goos, close to many nearby tourist attractions and... More

The hotel is older but clean with all the essentials. We got a room for $54 a night on booking.com which is incredible! You pay when you get there. No deposit. Walking distance to the trendy tianzifang area. Short cab ride to explore the glamorous yet expensive Xintiandi. Would definitely stay there again!

We are a family of 5 and sometimes struggle to get enough space. We got a large 3 bedroom apartment with its own kitchen. The kitchen came completely empty except for a fridge and cooker. We had to rent everything to go in it! The rooms were nice, although the bed was the hardest, most uncomfortable I have ever slept... More

I stayed here for 2 months, that's right 2 months while completing a portion of my studies in Shanghai. Pros: comfortable, useful business cards for taxi drivers with address on, good location, amenities nearby, running track across road Cons: gym pokey, pool in building 2 dirty, due to many conference guests in hotel you might find yourself waiting up to... If you have experienced hotels in China that are not international brand such as SPG or Marriott, you know how they can be really great, or really not. This rayfont (only a few blocks from another) is the better of the two. It is closer to the French Concession, quieter, with nicer rooms, and fixtures that are not broken. I... More

When I arrived to Shanghai I thought I have booked a nice hotel, given most of the hotels in the city are quite good. The hotel is in the middle of a very very poor neiborhood, even its not dangerous, its quite dirty. The Hotel is quite dirty and breakfast is perhaps one of the most unhealthy things I have... More
