This is a really good hotel - solidly four star, I would say. Great location near to shopping, entertainment and Jing'An temple (and its metro station). So you can get to plenty of places and enjoy safe, comfortable accommodation. As it serves a mainly international hotel, I would guess, public areas are non-smoking. Hurrah! In China, that's a big plus... More

Nice business Hotel directly at line 2. Good excecutive lounge with various snacks and drinks, happy Hour in the evening and courteous staff. I had an Executive room with top room service. Nice spa and gym. I would choose the hotel again.

I've been staying at this hotel in Beijing and Shanghai for over 5 years. The staying experience was perfect. The cleaniness of the rooms impressed my a lot, especially compared to other hotels in China.

Stayed in the Swissotel Grand a couple of times while I was in Shanghai. Overall, I must say by today's standards this is a very outdated property with massive flaws when it comes to rooms, service quality, food quality and overall comfort. The overall experience of staying in this place is rather disappointing! The rooms are outdated and quite old... More

Swissotel is very close to the subway. Take subway no 2 and get off at the Jing'an temple. it is a couple of minutes walk from the station. There are many places to shop and eat near the hotel. Hands down my go-to hotel in Shanghai when traveling for leisure -- this time with our 1 and half year old and it was just brilliant - from check in to check out absolutely no complaints whatsoever. Clean spacious room, best location ever and an absolute bargain!!!! Woohoo well done Swissotel! I used Uber throughout to beat the long taxi... More

Before arriving at this hotel, I stayed at Puli Hotel. I personally prefer Puli due to their classy design and "newness". Then again, I paid more for Puli. Both hotels are located very close to each other. I had a comfortable stay at Swissotel. My room had a classic design, something you'd expect from the older hotels like Hilton, Novotel... More

Staying in Jing'an

Neighborhood Profile
Jing'an
The heart of this neighborhood is the Jing'an Temple, while the main artery of excitement and entertainment is West Nanjing Road. Close to the Former French Concession, the area has a similar draw for foreign residents but displays a more commercial character. Large, flashy malls, luxe residential high-rises and trendy nightlife areas can be found along West Nanjing Road, but areas off the busy street have the same quiet cafes and independent boutiques that many people think of as distinctive of the Former French Concession. Jing'an is less encased in amber, though, and it's possible to immerse yourself more fully in the energy of China's most bustling metropolis here.
