I stay at Holiday Inn Express to the point I'm a Priority Gold member. This stay was a nasty surprise. Hotel is old in a bad neighborhood with none of the usual services such as USA Today available or free breakfast. Not worth it even if close to airport. more

Pretty good value and the kids enjoyed the pool area. Good breakfast and staff was hospitable. Rooms were basic, but comfortable. Some minor inconveniences like door locks not working and a musty odor. Great access to Pelham Civic Center more

Great stay after getting room settled. We booked a suite 2 months out. We arrived @10pm and were given room 521. Upon settling in the TV did not work. With 2 boys this is a must. We asked for maintence and were told we could wait or change rooms. We were moved to 512 that smelled soured and wet. The... more

Upon first glace, it is nice. All the rooms have a musty smell to them though and wireless internet is sheer hell sometimes, depending on how many users. We had a conference here, and half of us couldn't work because of this. My friend there had a dirty washcloth from the previous guest in her tub the entire weeks stay.... more

My visit was in late March 2008 as part of a business trip with several colleagues. The HIE Pelham is our preferred hotel when visiting Birmingham and surrounds, as it has everything you need and nothing you don't. There is an ampitheatre behind the hotel, and in the summer time you can sometimes hear the music, but this visit was... more

We visited the Holiday Inn Express Pelham passing through Alabama on our vacation, once on the way up and once on the way back. The lobby was clean with contemporary decor. The staff was friendly and helpful. The elevator ride felt a little unstable, there was a lot of noise coming from the machinery. We were disappointed to find very... more

The room had a noticeable musty smell and the area was traffic congested. The room did not have a refrigerator or microwave - usually included in rooms in this price range. The door mechanism was malfunctioning and had to be forced open. The swimming pool lounges were in disrepair. There is a large concert pavillion and parking area directly behind... more

While the lobby was beautiful, the room was dirty. The bathroom was dirty, the soft drink machine took my money, and I woke up to found a roach ( a huge roach) on the floor. I am sorry, but I at least expect a CLEAN room for this price. When I got home, I wrote a letter expressing my dissatisfaction... more

The Holiday Inn express Pelham is a very nice place! The lobby is very airy and cool, the rooms are super comfortable, with free high speed internet, very good beds(a rarity in hotels!), large bathrooms with good showers, a large desk, a chair/ottoman, and lots of space(not cramped!) The staff were all friendly, if a little aloof(not sure about directions).... more

We had guaranteed a 2 queens 'suite' with a living area and a pull out couch, via the internet site. When we arrived, our room was a 2 doubles HANDICAP ACCESS room, with no pull out couch. The desk clerk then told me that the hotel didnt even have suites with pull out couches because it violated the fire code.... more
