A couple of days ago my father and I stayed at the Admiral Semmes while visiting Mobile. While the room was fairly priced ($100 with tax), it was a dump. The wallpaper outside the elevator on our floor was falling off and no effort to repair it was being undertaken. The windows in the room were filthy and difficult to... More

When looking for hotels, we prefer the older, historic locations vrs the chain hotels with all the amenities. While the Admiral does look like some of his glory days are behind him, we found the hotel to be charming and the staff sweet and helpful. In the two rooms we rented, the TVs and WiFi worked well, the sleep number... More

I "named my own price" on Priceline and got what I thought was a good deal. They added tax and that was it. There was no other mention of any other fees. I scoured all the information they sent me to make sure that was the final amount owed. The hotel was downtown and you can park in their protected... More

When I walked into the lobby of the hotel I was impressed. It appeared clean and well taken care of. Completely different story when I got out of the elevator upstairs. When we stepped out of the elevator the wallpaper was peeling off of the wall...in a very obvious way! We stayed in Room 505, and there were large stains... More

Attempted to check in at ten after three when the check in time was three o'clock. They did not have a room ready. This was a problem for many people as they tried to check in. I actually had 2 rooms reserved and when they did become available I was willing to allow someone else to take one of my... More

We booked this room in advance months ago so we could be close to the civic center for a Mardi Gras ball. First, I was charged for two rooms instead of one. They corrected this with no problem. We went to check in about 2:00 PM this past Friday and were told our room would not be ready until after... More

My wife and I have stayed at the Admiral Semmes for a number of years for Mardi Gras balls. It had been falling behind their competitors in recent years in terms of facilities and service, but our stays were still acceptable. Until this past weekend. As indicated by most people in these reviews, our room was indeed very dated. Wallpaper... More

Older hotel, but the young staff were professional and anxious to please. Located within walking distance from museums, theaters, and many fine restaurants. Covered parking and clean well furnished room made for an enjoyable stay.

I have stayed at the Admiral Semmes many times for the First Light Marathon, and it has always been a delight. I love the grand old appearance of the hotel. The people have always been fantastic in their care of guests. This is not a new, modern hotel, but our rooms have always been clean and welcoming in an older... More
