Forget a hotel room and try an Inn steeped in history. The bed was so comfortable I was tempted to stay in it all day...but then a waft from the kitchen got me going. I would travel back to Mobile again, just for the breakfast, as it was truly amazing. The staff were great and the house had a relaxed... More

Very Unprofessional. I spoke with David through Airbnd to book the cottage for a one night stay; we came to an AGREEMENT on a price. I was told to call and pay for the reservation with Kayla immediately, so I did. Kayla was busy and "said" she would call back. I did not hear back from kayla or David the... More

We sincerely apologize for your difficulty in booking with us this past July 4th weekend. You are absolutely correct in asserting that we did accept your reservation request on air bnb. The overbooking came as the result of the fact that another party booked the 3 bedroom cottage in question, literally within minutes of my acceptance of your request, with... More

Husband and I stayed here on the way back from a trip to Florida. The hotel was clean, charming, and the breakfast was delicious. The bed was so comfortable and it was nice to have a warm bath in the over-sized jet bath tub. We were very happy with the hotel, service, and room. The hotel is located in the... More

Making reservations was not easy, as they have business hours. Once we arrived, everything was great. Lovely room and great breakfast. The chef is so nice and the food delicious. No need to pack a robe, one is provided. This is not a bed and breakfast with ornate, fussy decor. Instead everything is sleek and modern, which suits my taste.... More

My title says it all! I do not think of anything to add to this. I don't think there is a fitness center, and I don't know about a swimming pool. If there is a pool, we did not use it, so there are no ratings for those two things.

Southern hospitality is at the heart of small inns and boutique hotels, but being greeted curbside with umbrella-in-hand and welcomed as if arriving at a dear friends home is just one of our special experiences in our one night visit to Fort Conde Inn. The escort to our beautiful second floor guest room included an overview of Mobile, complete with... More

A very nice southern style hotel that has its own charme. The reception girl was awaiting us as we arrived in pouring rain and we got a kind and quick check-in. I was even welcomed by my name - amazing. But to even add further to that good service the breakfast was incredible. The cook, I think he is named... More

We stayed here in May for a wedding - the entire place was booked, but we got a room in the main house - Rachel. The breakfast was awesome. The cook normally cooks to order, but due to the large crowd, he cooked large quantities of bacon, sausage, grits, french toast, and breakfast casserole, all accompanied by assorted fruit (the... The decor is very nice, very charming. The breakfast was very tasty. I didn't experience the noise that other reviewers have mentioned. I could hear the train outside, but I think I only heard it twice during my two day stay. I stayed in room #7, which was comfortable and quiet. As has been mentioned, the inn is within walking... We had yet to fill the position and were understaffed for a period of roughly two weeks. We would happily discount your next stay should your travel plans bring you our way in the future. We spent two nights at the Inn and thought it was a beautiful place to stay, wonderful to see a house of this age restored so tastefully to its former splendour. Our room was extremely comfortable and well equipped, the staff were very helpful and breakfast was excellent. The area is quiet, and contrary to other reviewers we did not find... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Fort Conde Inn, Alabama's only 4-star, AAA four diamond rated boutique hotel and bed and breakfast, is a luxurious facility exuding the style and feel of nineteenth century Mobile. Requiring two years of meticulous workmanship, the Inn has now been restored to its original Victorian splendor. Built in 1836, the Fort Conde Inn (Hall-Ford House) is Mobile’s second oldest house and its interior and exterior finishes reflect its architectural vintage from original heart pine flooring and custom-milled stairways, moldings, and window and door trim to marble fireplace mantles, plaster walls, 12 foot ceilings and crystal chandeliers. The Fort Conde Inn, located in Mobile's historic Fort Conde Village, has recently expanded to include four newly restored hisorically certified homes: The Antunez House, the Spear-Barter House, as well as the Blakely and Gonzalez cottages. Walking into the Inn today, is like taking a step back in time to when these homes were originally built. The Inn sits on a quiet street in Fort Conde Village surrounded by Victorian homes restored with integrity and respect for their architectural heritage. It is situated adjacent to Fort Conde, a pre-revolutionary war fort built by the French in 1720 and named after the Prince of Conde, a grandson of Luis XIV. Mobile was founded by the French and the fort protected Mobile from incursions by the British. In recognition of the French heritage of this land, the rooms at the Inn have been named in French after friends and family members of the owner. ... more   less
