This old mansion turned into a bed and breakfast is well located in Malacca and is inexpensive but that is where the amenities stop other than Marcia and Henry Tan, the owners, who are very pleasant and helpful. The bathrooms in particular are very old and worn and look dirty although a lot of the problem is the finish eroding... More

I can only agree with others - the location is amazing and the owners are super nice and helpful. The room we stayed in, and especially the bathroom, needs refurbishment. I don't mind if a place is not brand new but this one really hasn't seen any maintenance for a couple of decades. The mattress was a bit on the... More

The service was really nice and the location could not be any better. The house is located by the river. It is an old house which can be seen, both inside and outside. Outside the house looks classic and somehow wellmaintened, with some chinese writing on the riverside wall. So it looks guite charming and temptating for a traveller, but.... More

This cosy old style hotel is managed by extremely friendly and helpful staff. Located right in the middle of historical Melaka, river facing rooms can be a bit noisy at night during the weekends when the place is flooded by tourists. Apart from that all is perfect, family feel, nice rooms, good breakfast and wi-fi. Would stay here again for... More

The location – with a nice view of Melaka River, especially if you'll be on thce second floor, Hereen House is several steps from Jonker Street and other must-see places. The room – Our room is cozy and clean, but would appreciate if they will replace the pillows with new ones (the ones we used needs to be stuffed in).... More

Location is just perfect, rooms are spacious and clean, the 2 we used had nice views to the river also. Breakfast is a bit limited, toasts, scrambled egg, sausage (not so healthy also). I would suggest adding some healthy cereals to it, yoghurt... Fruits are a good healthy touch, but then not much variety. Staff are friendly and we would... More

Your hosts are just gorgeous. The place quaint, yes it is 3 star but it met all our requirements, clean, comfy bed, aircon, flushing toilet and hot water. It was just a short walk to everywhere which was just great. Yes the bathrooms could be improved, however that is part of the character and the price! The cooked breakfast was... More

Great location on the waterfront and short walk to sights and Jonker Street. It's a lovely old building with lots of atmosphere but could do with some updating. The room was big enough and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom definitely needed some refurb. What really made this place special was the hosts, who called each guest by name and... More

I couldn't ask for a better location for seeing around town, although sometimes it was a bit noisy being on the waterfront. The staff were always friendly, especially the male host and night guard - nice to be in a place small enough that everyone knows you, I always felt safe there as a solo female traveller. I was quite... More

My daughter and I stayed here for two nights at the end of June. The location is excellent, close to Jonker St, right next to the river and historic area, and we enjoyed a simple breakfast. Owners were helpful, even offered to post postcards for us on our departure.
