We begun our three week trip here with a four day stay in Melaka. Location is fantastic and positioned in the old part of town. Very close to the night markets which was a bonus! All major sights were a short stroll. The room was equipped with air conditioning, western toilet and a shower. Although the apartment is simple, it... More

Really loved this place despite this being super basic. The owner and daughter were so friendly and on the last day even drove me to the train station. Also offered coffee when I arrived as well as gave me an umbrella to use when it started to pour it down and saw I had no umbrella. Small things like this... More

Location was excellent, easy access to Jonker Street by walk. We avoid traffic jam during eve of holiday. Room pretty standard and large, 1 queen + 1 king + 1 single. Toilet need regularly maintenance (Leakage from shower head all day long). Wifi was very slow. If you drive, make sure you have a car park lot and purchase car... More

The location is fantastic only 2 mins from the Christ Church. Cross the bridge, take the right after Hard Rock cafe, go 2 blocks, turn left into Jalan Kampung Kuli and its a few houses along on the left above a coffee shop. The corner of the road has a little satay stall, worth a try. The residence itself is... More

Stayed for 3 nights, two adults and 3 children's. Very large room with 1 double, 3 singles, good Aircon, fan, large TV and Cable. The hosts were fabulous and a great help with sight info and also arranged bus tickets to our next destination. The place is also a tea house and they offer tea or coffee each time you... More

This is quite basic accommodation; a collection of rooms above a teahouse, and nothing fancy about them. But the hospitality is first class. I was late getting to Melaka on the bus (traffic!) and but Mr Lai's daughter collected me from the bus station and took me for dinner (24 hour Indian food!) and that was illustrative of my whole... We arrived to a very friendly welcome. English is well spoken and understood! Our room was clean and large in an older style, but quaint building. This is a family run business. ATM they are working on some improvements and renovations but this does not detract from the ambiance of the place. Each time we returned to the hotel we... More

We stayed two nights at the Guli residence. The room was big, comfortable , keeping in mind it is not a 5 star hotel, it is a budget room. The day we arrived I had an upset stomach and they gave me medicine to feel better. They also were really kind to show us around, take us for dinner to... More

If you are looking for 5 star facility, go to a 5 star hotel. If you are looking for an authentic 5 star experience, go to Guli. Be forewarned, the residence is maybe 1 star at best- old, tired, stained. But it is the authentic experience with the hospitality of Mr Lai and family. I don't need to repeat what... More

I spent 2 nights. The guest house is very well-located, in the historic center. 1 min on foot from the night market (friday, sat and sunday) and 3/5 min from the others historic places. When I arrived the guest and his family welcomed me with a local coffee (very good and I know this subject because I was barista). The... More
