I have to say that my husband and I were really concerned about staying at the Tamerind as it is only classed as a 2 star and our expectations weren't very high. What a fabulous place! After dropping off all the other tourists in Calangute and Candolin (which are dumps and we would have been horrified if staying there -... more

The Tamarind is an excellent place to stay if you want peace and quiet. The staff are very friendly and the place is very tranquil. There is no fridge or coffee making facility but so what! If you want the 5 star experience then I think you have to pay a bit more than the very reasonable Tamarind. I ate... more

just what we needed to get away from our hetic workaholic lives. What a fantastic little gem hidden away in beautiful gardens. As we travelled by coach ( well we nik named it the scooby doo bus! no air conditioning for us only little fans wired to who knows where!) but hey ho we were in India, where cattle roam... more

We have just returned from a two week, post Christmas break in Goa. This was our first experience of India and travelling from the airport through towns such as Candolim and Calangute with their 'Full English Breakfasts' & 'British Theme Pubs' caused us some anxiety about our choice of destination. We had read the conflicting reviews of the Tamarind before... more

its funny peoples perceptions of a place, we stayed at the tamarind the week after the honeymooners left. it was what it said in the brochure, peaceful tranquil, secluded a family run hotel. all the staff were friendly, accomadating, and knowledgable about most things that we enquired about. the pool was bloody cold, but warmed up during the day the... more

For this holiday, my husband and I were looking for a peaceful retreat to rest our weary bones. I am glad to say that we found one at the Tamarind. What we liked most is hard to say. Was the leafy shaded garden at the entrance? The gentle humming of the fans on the veranda where we spent many a... more

I have just returned from an excellent 2 week stay at the Tamarind, and honestly it was by far one of the most friendly hotels that I have good fortune to stay at. Service was excellent ! and all staff seemed unable to do enough to make your stay great. I would recommend this hotel to people who want to... more

The Tamarind hotel is the perfect chilled out retreat. I'm going back there in january 05 for the third time. The first time I went on my own and on the second week met my future wife by the pool. If you want relaxation stay at the tamarind, as it's a very personal and peaceful place. If you don't like... more

I stayed at The Tamarind in November '03. It is a great little hotel tucked away in a quiet corner of Anjuna (Goa's Hippy Colony). It is owned by an Australian man and his Indian wife who live on the premises with their four friendly dogs! The rooms are small with showers and a fan and are all situated around... more
