Nikita's is a logical choice when visiting Olkhon Island. Most of the staff speak English, they arrange tours and you get fed but don't go with high expectations. The staff weren't particularly friendly but they did help when needed and were reasonably efficient. They can arrange transport to and from Irkutsk at a price and crammed into a very basic... More

Probably the best spot to start a journey to discover Olkhon. But as the center of tourism activity of the island, it anything but close to a typical Siberian experience. Though you will find plenty of travellers and a lot of information. The included food (even breakfast) is good and generous. Staff altogether probably speak 40 languages. 4/5 because of... More

An amazing complex of handmade log cabins, situated in a great spot in the village of Khuzir (think the Wild West mixed with a bit of Scandinavia, plus a sprinkling of Deliverance). With its own restaurant, bar and sauna(?!) all constructed and run by volunteers from Irkutsk and beyond, keen to learn new languages from foreign tourists. Room was great,... More

The staff were more than helpful and spoke a number of languages. The decor of the little village is amazing. At night there are fairy lights dotted around giving it a festival style atmosphere. Having food Included in the price makes it such good value for money. I loved the Eco friendly feel and the French bistro cafe in the... More

For the equivalent of £35 you get a bed with breakfast and dinner included. Meals are hearty, very tasty and filling. The atmosphere in the communal areas are friendly. Tours and cooking courses are also offered. The only downside are the staff who run the reception. They are rude, miserable and give conflicting information. The other staff that work on... More

The place is quite well located in the Island. Quite a drive from the ferry terminal, but it is worth the drive. The houses are Russian Isba type of wooden houses. It is a typical backpackers hangout place. I loved the internationality of the place. We were two families traveling with a small kid and we were told that at... More

Just finished 2 great days and nights on olkhon with unreal sunshine in Siberia- the place looks like a Greek island or an asian tropical paradise at times! Nikkitas- as far as accom in olkhon- it's the place they say to stay- so I did just that! I gambled n turned up and was given a room - 4 bed... More

This is a very rustic but comfortable hotel really more like an old time lodge. My wife and I stayed there four days in late May so the tourist season had not yet ramped up but there still was an assortment of International backpackers coming through all the time. At that time of year it was very quiet and relaxing.... More

The winter was just over. The lake was still frozen but the homestead still give us the best services. Friendly staffs, the good cook and awesome excursion too, minus the cold weather still. We are the only 4 guess there and we enjoy ourselves (all of us met each other at the homestead).

Olkhon is very beautiful and Nikita's is an interesting place to stay. It is a compound of eclectic wooden buildings. Each room has a unique character. The staff are friendly and some absolutely lovely and very helpful It is also possible to arrange day trips all around the island. Unfortunately, the food served was a letdown. It was bland and...
