Nice & clean mid sized hotel on Shakspear Sarani (in the heart of Kol). It has a good restaurant attached to it. Good value for money accomodation as compared to HHI or Park nearby. Recommended for a good night sleep. more

Kolkata was my first stop in India from the States, and I was exhausted by the time I reached the expensive hotel Astor. The first thing I did when I turned on the lights was kill 3 cockroaches. I had the displeasure of dealing with the Astor Hotel on a trip to India in early December 2008. The room wasn't bad, but decidedly average and I expected more for the price (Rs 4200 per night – a lot for a single room). Be prepared to stay in a room without a window and feel claustrophobic !! The breakfast is plain ok , nothing remarkable . more
