I was delighted with the service & hospitality. Style of welcoming the guess to the checkout. Enjoyed my stay of 4 days. The promptness and the manners of the staff were the key areas. The food is also nice, classical begali dishes - not to forget the traditional hand made brown rasgulla was very good.

Idelly placed in the old colonial prt of town. Comfortable rooms and nice pool. Restaurant serves good if slightly westernised food. Bar is expensive. For a cheaper beer try the Fairlawn, about. 300 yds away. Ask at Front desk for directions. Wifi only free for first 30'. Cheap trick for such a high class hotel.

We couldn't stay there as the location was not convenient. However, we did try to have a drink there. Our first attempt was thwarted as my husband dressed in tailored "Bermuda" shorts was not deemed adequately attired for a lunchtime drink in the bar. This may explain why it was empty. On our second attempt - having been racing) Simon... More

After the turmoil of the city market stalls that function right up to the hotel walls, the hotel offers welcome serenity, with the benefit of an efficient, but unobtrusive, security check of both vehicles & persons on entering. On arrival, you are greeted by smiling, friendly staff who make you feel welcome throughout your stay. The rooms are well appointed... More

This lovely well established hotel was a very pleasant surprise for our trip to Kolkata. The staff was very gracious and helpful and our accommodation spotless and comfortable. The food was tasty, well prepared and served with a smile. We were unable to leave the hotel in our free time due to political demonstrations at the time, we took advantage... More

Visited the coffee shop with a group of cousins for late night coffee and desserts. Excellent ambience and great food. The service however is an area of improvement. We requested for water ice serviettes on multiple occasions but struggled to get them. Also had to specifically request for used China and glasses to be removed. Perhaps was an exception since... The hotel is an oasis of calm in the maelstrom of Calcutta life - just step outside the heavily guarded gates and you are immediately in the hubbub of the markets. Everything about the hotel is traditional, with large elegant rooms and superb service. The swimming pool is a very welcome refuge from the city heat. Food is excellent. The... More

The best thing about the hotel is its location. It is in Chowringhee, where much of the businesses operate out of; and close to Victoria Memorial - a cultural landmark. Being on the main road, there is less possibility you will be stuck in a traffic jam while getting in or out of the hotel. As you enter the grand... More

Well located in Central Kolkata on The Esplanade and close to the maidan. Service is top class and all staff are very helpful. Breakfast is excellent. The pool area is pleasant. Highly recommended as a heritage hotel so much nicer than modern chains.

The Oberoi Grand in Kolkata is a 'Grand-Dame' of the Raj experience, it offers superb tranquillity and service after a day exploring the hidden gems of this fascinating city. All the staff are exceptionally pleasant and helpful, their smiles certainly make it the City of Joy. They help arrange taxis and local tours....Devika as a guide and 'Bomti' as a... More
