It all depends whether you want to be on Sudder Street, which is the foreigner/backpacker ghetto. If you do, the Bawa Walson is a good option. Three minutes from the India Museum, five minutes from Park Street. The property is new and well-maintained, with nice Buddhist-themed art everywhere. Staff are helpful and attentive, and the rooms, while a bit standard-issue,... More

Not a whole lot, cleartrip helped book a room, but the management said it was overbooked, moved us to Sapphire. Clearly a biased approach as they were accommodating foreign clients. I guess we pay the same amount or may be they ripping the foreign clientele with astronomical charges, who wouldn't know if they are using exchanged dollars to pay. Such... More

Location is a big turnoff but is nicely connected to the city. Rooms were well maintained but the construction going on in the surroundings was audible inside. Flexible check-in time, good breakfast spread. Serves Hukah as well!

I stayed for 12 days in this hotel during a work trip and although the property is really nice, I felt that they are not used to long-term visitors. The rooms as well as the garden restaurant are comfortable and have a good atmosphere. The food is also pretty good. But the service is extremely slow and inefficient. When cleaning... More

Arrived late on a Friday night after checking out of a bad hotel. They were more than happy to accommodate me and gave amazing service! They also took the time to help me set up the wifi and the spa and restaurant were to die for!! A must stay!!!!!

Located in the new market area and in the midst of shopping area adds a good value for a tourist. The rooms are small but comfortable the staff were good and efficient.Food was excellent and open till late. Out side the noise and bustle actually makes you feel the hotel is much better.

Location is walking distance from the Indian Museum which is supposed to be best in India. Sadly was closed for renovation in December this year. Management great. Accommodating, friendly. Food also really good. Make stone fired pizza…or at least seemed to be… which was really odd to have in the center of Calcutta.

Bawa walson is located very conveniently in heart of the city. Buffet breakfast lacked variety and quality. Dinner ordered in the room was OK types. Room was decent sized and well equipped but had a strange stink. If your budget allows, you should surely explore some other option.

The hotel's only good thing was well mannered and very co-operative staff at reception. We checked in at 2 a.m. and our check in was hassle free, we kept our luggage at store room the next morning and could roam around freely. He suggested us nearby places and made our day with his gestures, even though we were not happy... More
